Serengeti Echoes 19 April 2012 Golf Club Newsflash Message from Golf Management As we approach our fourth winter, since opening in June 2009, we can only appreciate the many successes that we have enjoyed, growing from strength to strength in establishing ourselves as a desirable and sought after golfing destination. This is particularly apparent in the phenomenal growth of memberships and increasing demand for corporate golf days. We have developed relationships with many large corporate businesses who have identified us as an ideal venue to host their clients, returning year after year. Audi SA is one such client, who booked our facility for the month to host conferences and launch their new Q3 and A4 vehicles. Thank you to all the members for supporting the Masters weekend. The Weekend started off with a Champions Dinner on Thursday where Graham vd Berg ( 2011 Club Champion ) hosted a wonderful evening filled with great food and company. The par 3 Challenge delivered the best turnout yet with 76 players participating for the honour of being the par 3 champion of 2012. Slade Fick walked away with the honours with 21 points and with that the curse of the Par 3 competition. For those who do not know the curse , no players at the Masters has ever won the par 3 challenge and the Masters Tournament in the same year. Our Saturday field for the Masters tournament had 43 participants and a big thank you goes out to all the players for their support. Congratulations to the winners; Hennie van Aardweg, Richard Pretorius, Clive Miller and Gustav Botes (see following page for scores) The Masters marked the first Major of the year in the Jack Nicklaus Champion of Champions event whereby the winner of each Major tournament will be invited to play in a team event against all the other Jack Nicklaus Courses in the country. The team of 4 will represent Serengeti at Pecanwood this year at the end of the year. We look forward to the US Open which will be played on the 16 th of June 2012.
