turn in our Angus journey to be better. This challenge not only improved Cudlobe but also our breed, our industry. Rob, you truly were an intellect, a visionary, a stockman. It was our privilege and honor to be associated with you. The set of bulls in out 18th Annual Bull Sale are decades in the making; five decades to be exact. We are so proud that Dyce got his 50 year award this year. Many things have happened to the Angus breed in those 50 years; some good, some bad. Many people reminisce about the great Angus cattle of the past. At Cudlobe we truly believe the best cattle we have ever raised are in our pens and pastures right now. These cattle generate shocking performance and carcass figures. The total focus of our program is to produce seedstock that make our industry more profitable at every segment. Excited about this set of bulls, excited to see and hear your evaluation of them.

The Families of Cudlobe

Every year in a welcome the owners say this is their best set of bulls to date. This is no exception in the 18th Annual Cudlobe Bull Sale; the quality of these bulls from top to bottom is exceptional. For many years now Cudlobe Angus has been developing a top notch carcass herd and the results are outstanding. Both families are committed Angus seedstock producers with all members of the family contributing in the plans, ideas and future thoughts. We see the results before us sale day and what a job they have done over the years developing this top notch Bull Sale. This year again Cudlobe had their Influence feeder sale and it was again a huge success, congrats to Cudlobe and their bull customers.

It is backed by a great cow herd, if you ever get a chance to go through the cows please do, you will not be disappointed. The quality of these brood cows is exceptional from their udder quality, mothering abilities (as you will see with the great WW and YW) and superior genetics. This didn’t not happen overnight, again the time and commitment the Cudlobe families put into their selection of herdsires and buying brood matrons is calculated. Dad was so proud of the Cudlobe operation and attended every event he could with them involved. He always told me, how privileged it is to be working with such a great family, having such good friends and what they have done in the Angus industry; and he was so right.

The offering this year is a very diverse one with many new Sire groups being offered to their past loyal customers and some sire groups that they know work for them and their clients. If you haven’t had the chance to get to the sale this is the year to do so, the set of bulls will amaze you. Or even better yet make the trip to the farms and see the bulls and even the cows they came from.

Total Focus is a bull sold in the 2013 sale to Dwajo Angus. He is a Cudlobe In Focus 5S son that is super attractive and even received interest from Australia. His male calves have averaged 84 lb BW and 788 lbs. at weaning. He is ranked within the Top 1% of the breed for WW, Top 4% for YW and Marbling EPDs. This is third year we have this sire group offered as they do work for our customers. 5 sons sell.

10B is one of the fantastic Upshot daughters that we have with their stylish front end and ability to add power to their calves. 18E is the full brother to future herdsire, Cudlobe Focussed Shot 4D. Having a similar look to his brother, this calf is sure to impress. 18E supports EPDs for WW, YW and Total maternal in the top 4% while having Marbling in the top 8%.

157B is without a doubt one of the most eye appealing moderate females within the herd and a personal favorite raising one of the top replacement females last year. 20E is a stout light birth weight calf with a balanced EPD profile to boot including being rated within the top 20% for his birthweight, total maternal, calving ease, and marbling EPDs.

38Z may just be the best looking Timeless daughter in the herd. She has produced two past sale bulls and one replacement female. 13E matches his dams look with a great one of his own. He is no doubt a cow bull with immense growth being rated within the top 5% for his WW and YW.

Dr. Connie Fancy has been providing veterinary service and consultation to Cudlobe Farms for over 22 years. The majority of the service provided consists of breeding soundness evaluations of the bulls and herd health consultation. Herd problems are minimized with a good vaccination program and excellent management. Heifer and bull calves are vaccinated in the spring and again at weaning with Bovi-Shield Gold One Shot and Ultrabac 7/Somubac (the comprehensive Zoetis calf vaccine program to protect against pneumonia, BVD and Clostridial diseases). At weaning the bull calves also receive Fusogard to protect against footrot. The cow herd receives a scour-prevention vaccine (Scourbos 9) prior to calving as well as a vaccine designed to protect against pneumonia and BVD in the calves (Cattlemaster Gold FP5) and Tasvax-8. The cow herd has been screened for Johnes Disease for many years, and continues to be negative. I am extremely proud to be associated with the Bolduc family and their cattle operation!
