Buyer beware in trade games THE headaches have started. If Round 3 was a straight- forward, corrective trade walk in the park, Round 4 is a mine- field. Toby Greene, Daniel Rich, Brad Crouch, Trent McKenzie, Tommy Sheridan and Sam Gray are either wildly incon- sistent, stinking it up or injured. None are cause for outright panic, but what has us reaching for the Panadol is the fact that there are no attractive “bubble boys” on offer, nor any cash cows even close to culling eligibility. Which, unless you’ve got some coin in the back pocket, means sideways trading. Sideways? No ways. That’s crazy talk and in a 2016 campaign still in its infancy, is fraught with danger. In news that the trigger- finger traders among us will find difficult to accept, Greene and company might be the itches we can’t scratch for a while. We have to hold. Greene was always a risk, of course, but with the shipping off of Adam Treloar to the Pies, it seemed like he would be the key beneficiary. But Greene isn’t getting the midfield minutes we’d like and scores of 51, 120 and 52 not only has his 21,000 owners pulling their hair out, it saw him drop $17k to $429,300. If you don’t have Aaron Hall (now $488,100) you’ve got rocks in your head, but you’re also lucky. Greene for Hall might be the only option that makes sense right now. Adelaide’s Brad Crouch ($306,100) won’t be back for another 2-3 weeks, while Rich ($436,100) is expected to play after missing last week with hammy tightness. Crouch on your bench is far from a disaster given he may well end up repaying the faith, but some might not be able to resist Port Adelaide’s Aaron Young or the Bulldogs pocket rocket Caleb Daniel as simi- larly-priced replacements. Young is about to leap up from his starting price of $253,100 after scores of 94 and 101 and is in a paltry 0.7 per cent of teams. Daniel ($337,800) has al- ready gone up but may be worth the gamble after a 107 against Hawthorn saw his average jump to 90. Again, he’s in stuff-all teams. That pair might be as risky as the pair you’re replacing, however. Don’t you just love SuperCoach? [email protected] SAM EDMUND
