MINUTES OF THE 17th GOVERNING COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 05.08.2017.
The Chairperson welcomed the members of the governing council and briefed
about the Selvam College of Technology’s present status and the plan for the future.
With the welcome note, the Principal explained the contents of the report, which
has been submitted as per the agenda.
The subject discussed and the relevant decisions made are given below:
FOR CONSIDERATION AND DECISION
1. Implementation of Autonomous Process
The Governing Body approved the implementation of autonomous status from
the academic year 2017-18.
1. A. Constitution of Statutory Committees
The Governing Body resolved to approve the constitution of Statutory Committees
as follows based on UGC guidelines:

b. All the Deans
c. All the Heads of Department of the College
d. Four teachers of the College representing different categories of teaching staff by
rotation on every three years
e. Not less than four experts from outside the College representing such areas as l

k. Academic Regulations and Curriculum
The Governing Body approved the regulations and curriculum. As per UGC and AICTE
Regulations, Public Administration and Disaster Mitigation Management are to be
introduced. Attendance requirements should be on par with the Pondicherry University
norm.
Strategies IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for
Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic,
administrative and financial tasks.
The relevance and quality of academic and research programs.
Equitable access to and affordability of academic programs for various sections of
society.
Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning.
The credibility of evaluation procedures.
Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure
and services.
Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions in India and
abroad.
Functions of the IQAC are:
Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various
academic and administrative activities of the institution.
Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality
education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and
technology for participatory teaching and learning process.
Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders
on quality-related institutional processes.
Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education.
Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality
related themes and promotion of quality circles.

REPORT ON THE ACTION TAKEN ON THE MINUTES OF THE LAST
GOVERNING COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 07. 07. 2013
The college establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) from the
Government of Tamil Nadu. The EDC was established in the college and it is
functioning in a very good manner.
The result publication of the internal examinations is centralized by publishing the
results in the college website two days after the last examination is over. This is
ensured by evaluating the answer scripts in a central valuation system. All the
internal examinations are now conducted for three hours instead of usual one and
half hours.
As suggested by the GC members, the internal examination cell is revamped and
strengthened with a proper structure by deputing coordinators, department
coordinators and squad members to ensure the examinations are taking place in a
correct Ernest.
The students are honored for securing all pass in the examinations and also for
securing the 100 % attendance in each semester. The faculty members are also
honored for their academic excellence by bringing 100% results in university
examinations
The department of mathematics achieved an excellent and outstanding result in
the university examinations by producing more than 90% through crash course
&sustained team work. The department of mathematics had published
Engineering Mathematics II book for the benefit of the students.

The students are given with daily subject test during 5th hour daily to improve
their writing practice.
In order to improve the language proficiency and communication skills, the
students are given with seminars during every week.
The college is providing scholarship to the students who get more cutoff marks in
the +2 examinations.

The staff members have published 105 research articles in the leading international
and national journals and few of them in high impact journals. The students have
also published 16 research articles in the international and national journals.
The college received to the tune of Rs. 12 lakh as grants for conducting various
conference, seminar, FDP and workshops. The faculty members are submitted
proposals to the tune of Rs. 55 lakh with various funding agencies.
