conference overviewEmbracing a world of change
Our industry is on the verge of profound change. The future of transport and the role played by roads in the movement of people and goods face unprecedented pressure and potential for disruption.
But fortune favours the brave. Those at the forefront of change are more likely to succeed in the new world than those who keep doing what they’ve always done.
Change creates challenges and opportunities – and that’s why this year’s 17th AAPA International Flexible Pavements Conference theme is Roads of the Future – Embracing Disruption.
The conference will help the leaders of Australia’s flexible pavements sector meet the challenges of the future.
You will hear how technology is transforming the way we build roads, how we will use the mountains of data being generated to improve construction outcomes, how we will ensure environmental sustainability – and much more.
The conference and exhibition features: • newroad-makingtechnology • futuristandsocialcommentatorBernardSalt • keynotepresentationsfrominternationalexperts • technicalprogramincludingnationalindustryleadersdiscussingmajorissuesfor the sector • careersadviceforthosewhoarenewtotheindustry • networkingopportunitiestomeetlike-mindedandsupportivecolleagues.
It brings together delegates from all areas of the industry from Australia and around the world including:
Academics and studentsAsphalt manufacturersBinder suppliersBitumen suppliersConsultantsEngineers
Equipment Manufacturers/SuppliersFederal, State and Local GovernmentRoad asset stewards, contractors and workersSprayed surfacing operatorsTollway operators
Whether you are a stakeholder, partner, supplier or student, we urge you to take advantage of everything our conference offers, and help create the industry of tomorrow. Visit the exhibition to see the next generation plant and equipment heading to market.

A revised roads and pavement resilience framework has been established which merges program management with value for money outcomes, using extended design and delivery standards. This framework facilitates the prioritisation of investment and through the whole-of-lifeapproach,linkstotheadditionalservicelevelofresilienceimprovement,such as shoulder widening, and tied to the the available funding. The use of this approach will be explained in the wake of the 2017 Cyclone Debbie.
