    Please read this entire instruc tion manua l be fore opera ting your new

    brasa burner. By do ing so you will learn how to c orrec tly op era te your

    burner. Please keep th is instruc tion ma nua l and do not throw it aw ay. Thisinstruc tion manua l should be rea d by all users of the b urner. Fa ilure to d o

    so c ould result in p roperty or bod ily da mage.

    Basic Sa fety Instruc tions

    Please consider tha t a n open fire is a lways a potentia l hazard .

    A burner tha t is in use should never be left una ttended . Kee p child ren a nd pets away from a burner tha t is in opera tion. The burne r is no t a toy. The burner should always be placed on a fla t, horizonta l surface. Only adults should opera te the b urner. Always read and follow the instruc tions tha t a re p rinted on the b io-

    etha nol bottle.

    Only use b io-etha nol as fuel. Bio-ethanol is a lso known as denatureda lcohol or me thylated sp irits. No o the r fuel can be used for this kind of

    burner. Fa ilure to d o so c ould result in a unc ontrollab le fire.

    Always p lace the burner a t a sa fe d istanc e from flamm able ma teria ls,a t least 3 feet in each d irec tion. Do not plac e o n or near ca rpets or

    rugs.

    Never place any o b jec ts on top or inside of the burner. The burne r gets ho t during use. Never touch the b urner while it is in

    use. Wa it a t least one ho ur a fter the fire has been extinguished before

    touching.

    Never try to add fuel to the burner while it is b urning , th is could c ausesevere damage. Wa it a t least 15 minutes a fter the fire ha s been

    extinguished before refueling .

    For lighting the burner, please follow the instruc tions found later in thismanual.

    For exting uishing the burner, plea se follow the instruc tions found laterin th is manua l.

    First Steps

    Before using your new slim burne r insert fo r the first t ime p lease be sure to

    follow the se steps:

    Please be sure to remove a ll packag ing materia l and any stic kers orlabels.

    Chec k the contents of the pa ckage for da ma ge to the unit, and toma ke sure a ll pa rts of the unit have be en inc luded .

    Please c ontac t your dea ler if there a re a ny da maged or missing parts. Please keep all packing materia ls away from c hild ren, as it could be a

    choking or suffoc a tion ha zard if used imp roperly.

    First Steps

    In the slim burner package you w ill find the burner unit, cover p la te, wa nd

    tool, op tiona l slow pour spout and long lighter.

    Once you have unpacked your new burner please chec k to make sure

    that you have a ll of the piec es need ed and that none are d ama ged . If

    not p lea se c onta c t your dea ler for rep lacem ent parts.

    To assemble, p lace the cover p la te in the recess on the burner unit top

    p la te w ith the b rasa log o fac ing up.

    Once this is done the burner needs to be set in p lac e. This can be in a

    brasa housing or a custom built-in surround . The burner is now ready for

    use.

    Using the Burner

    Filling the b io-ethanol

    For grea ter control, a ttach the op tional slow pour spout to the b io-ethanol bo ttle. The cap should only be a ttac hed during filling . When

    filling is com plete , the o rig ina l cap should be put back on to prevent

    spilling.

    Slowly tip unt il fuel is pouring from bottle. Do not sp ill the b io-ethanol. If b io-ethanol is sp illed , w ipe the a ffec ted a rea d ry immedia te ly.

    Onc e you have dried the a rea , use a wet c loth to c lean the affec tedarea . This will p revent the sp illed etha nol from b urning acc identa lly.

    Sp illed etha nol can dama ge som e surfac es like wo od , pa int andlea ther. By follow ing the above instruc tions you are m inimizing the

    possib ility of d amage.

    Do not over fill the burner. As you pour the fuel, it w ill be absorbedthrough the b affle. When no more fuel is being absorbed, it w ill beg in

    to pool in the filling reservo ir. At this po int, you know the burne r is full.Full capac ity o f the burner is 1 1/2 quarts.

    Using the Burner

    Lighting the burner

    Onc e the b urner has been fueled it is rea dy to b e lighted . Have the b urner s cover in the open position. Use a long lighte r to light the burner, light the b io-etha nol tha t is in the

    fuel reservoir.

    The lighte r should be a t lea st 8 inc hes long. Neve r position your hand ove r the fuel reservo ir, and do not stand

    over the burner while lighting, a lwa ys light burner from the side and

    never have any body pa rts over the ope ning of the b urner. Never blow a ir d irec tly into the flame a t any point o f the b urning

    process, th is is a b urn ha zard .

    Neve r add b io-ethanol to a n op en flame, this is an exp losion ha zard ,a lways make sure the fire has been c ompletely extinguished for 15

    minutes before add ing mo re fuel.

    Extinguishing the burner

    Never try to exting uish the flame using wate r. This is an exp losionhazard.

    The firep lace has to coo l dow n for one hour befo re ha ndling theburner pan or cover.

    To extinguish the fire use the wand too l or long lighter with w and tip tomove the cove r to the c losed position.

    The wand tool key is the rec tang ular post tha t is sticking up from thecover.

    When the burner is no t in use it should a lways be in the c losed position. Please see images on the next page fo r p ic ture instruc tions. Only use the wand too l to open a nd c lose the cover, cove r will be

    very hot during use and will burn the user if touched.

    If the flame does not extinguish c omp letely when the cover is pushedinto the closed position, then m ove the cover back to the open

    position and then to the c losed position aga in in two mo re rap id

    motions.

    Maintenance a nd Ca re

    The burner hea ts up during opera tion. After the fire has beenexting uished the burner will still be ho t. Do not touc h the burner for a t

    least one hour a fter exting uishing . Only c lea n the surfac e o f the p rod uc t a fter it has fully coo led dow n. Do not use abrasive c leaners, sc rubb ing p owder or similar cleaners to

    c lea n the b urner, as they ca n cause d ama ge.

    To c lean, use a wet c lean c lo th. Use only water and a mild d ishdete rge nt, if needed , or wipe w ith b io-ethanol to rem ove tough

    ta rnish sta ins.

    To avo id sp illing , make sure the re is no b io-ethanol left in the burnerbefore c lea ning.

    Before reusing the burner, make sure tha t a ll pa rts ha ve been p utba ck in the correc t place.

    You ma y notice b lack soot on the b urner or cover pla te a fter the firstuse. This is due to na tura l minerals in the new me ta l coming to the

    surface up on hea ting for the first time. Clean this using a lcohol and

    c lea n c loth.

    Further Sa fety Instruc tions

    If ethanol is sp illed on the burner, w ipe it up immed ia te ly using a softand absorbent cloth. Wash the c loth out a fter wards with c lea n

    water.

    The burner must c ool dow n a t least 15 minutes before the flame c anbe lit aga in or be fore it c an be refueled .

    Neve r put b io-ethanol into an open fire. Exp losion ha zard . Never try to exting uish the flame with w a ter. Exp losion hazard . For sa fety reasons, this burne r can only use b io-ethanol. Do not use the produc t if it shows visib le d amage. If you see d amage

    caused b y shipp ing p lea se c ontac t your dea ler.

    Rep a irs to the burner ca n only be done by your dealer. Do not move the burner while it is burning .

    Storage a nd Hand ling of Bio-etha nol

    Bio-ethanol w ill be delivered in p lastic bott les if supp lied by b rasa. They

    are marked w ith app licab le regula tions. Follow these regula tions

    regard ing transporta tion and storage. Reg ula tions can d iffer depend ingon loc al laws.

    Do not ea t, drink or smoke d uring the filling process. Always store b io-ethanol in its designa ted canister, which must be

    c losed a t a ll times.

    Always store b io-ethanol in a dry and coo l p lace, out o f d irec tcontac t to sunlight and away from heat sources and open fire.

    Rec om me nded home storage quantity is up to 12 quarts. Always store b io-ethanol out o f rea ch of c hild ren and in a loc a tion

    tha t is childproof to p revent an una uthorized access.

    Only use b io-etha nol as d irec ted for ventless firep lac es designed toburn b io-etha nol.

    Never po or fuel into an ope n flame . Check ca refully that the flame isfully exting uished before refueling

    Please read Ma nufac turers Safety Da ta Sheet (MSDS) inc lude d w iththe b io-ethanol p rior to using produc t.

    Bio-etha nol is extremely flammable, both the liquid and vapor. Keepaway from spark and open flames. Improp er exposure can result in

    injury or dea th.

    Kee p b io-etha nol tightly closed in a coo l d ry place. Use only in w ell ventila ted areas. If swallow ed , see k med ica l a ttention imm ed ia tely and show contents

    of the c onta iner.

    For conta c t w ith eyes, flush immedia te ly with c ool wa ter for 15 minutesand seek med ica l a ttention.

    For conta c t w ith skin, rinse area well w ith c ool water. If irrita tionoccurs, consult a p hysic ian.

    Custom Cut Out Informa tion

    This information is fo r customers tha t a re putting a slim burner insert in a

    custom setting . The fo llow ing is the sizing and cut out info rmation for the

    slim b urner. The burner can be p ut into p lace w ith the flange sitting ontop of the custom build in surfac e or the flange can be rec essed into the

    custom area ; performa nce w ill not b e e ffec ted either way.

    If you a re insta lling your burner with the flang e rec essed be sure not to cut

    a ll the way through your support materia l, the flange needs something to

    sit on. Both cut out sizes are inc luded in th is manua l.

    Burn Time

    The brasa Slim Burner can ho ld up to 1 1/2 bo ttles of fuel when c ompletely

    full. You w illknow thatthe burner is full whe n no more fuel is being

    absorbed through the baffle and it b eg ins to pool in the filling reservo ir.

    The burner does not nee d to b e filled comp letely for p roper use.

    You c an expec t to get a bout 180 minutes of b urn time from a burner that

    has been filled a t ma ximum capac ity and is b urning w ith the unit a t the

    full open p osition. This is about 2 hours per qua rt o f fue l.

    Fuel econom y ca n be imp rove d by red uc ing the flame size which canbe achieved by pa rtia lly c losing the b urner s cove r using the w and too l to

    slide the cover so tha t it is partia lly covering the fuel reservo ir.

    Your brasa Slim Burne r provides approximate ly 8,900 BTU the rmal outp ut.

    Fragrance

    To use Brasa Scent hom e fragranc e system, p lac e a few drops of

    fragranc e into the fragranc e channel on your burner. DO NOT PUT

    FRAGRANCE DIRECTLY INTO THE FUEL RESERVIOR.
