Donot apply directly to water, to areas where surfacewater is present or to intertidal areas below the meanhigh water mark. Do not contaminate water when dis-posing of equipment washwaters. When rodding, rod holesmust be spaced in a manner that will allow for a con-tinuous chemical treated zone, not to exceed 12 inch-es, to be deposited along the treated area. Rod holesshould not extend below the footing. Apply 4 gallons ofsolution (see APPLICATION VOLUME) per 10 linear feet,per foot of depth to provide a uniform treated zone.When trenching, the trench along the outside founda-tion should be about 6 inches in width and 6 inches indepth. Use a low pressure spray (not to exceed 25 psiat the treatment tool when the valve is open) to treatsoil which will be placed in the trench after rodding.Mix the spray solution with soil as it is being placed inthe trench. When treating voids in hollow masonryunits, use 2 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet ofwall. After inspection and removal of anywood or cellulose debris, the soil can be treated byrodding or drenching the soil.CRAWL SPACES: When there is insufficient clearancebetween floor joists and ground surfaces to allowapplicator access, excavate, if possible, and treataccording to crawl spaces (refer to Pre-ConstructionTreatment). If unable to excavate, crawl space soil andwood treatment may be used to prevent surfaceaccess by termites. Apply 1 gallon of solution (seeAPPLICATION VOLUME) per 10 square feet to provide auniform chemical treated zone. Use a very coarsespray at a pressure not exceeding 25 psi at the treat-ment tool when the valve is open.Where a crawl space cannot be reached with the appli-cation wand, use extension wands or other suitableequipment to apply a coarse spray on the soil, woodand structural members contacting the soil at theabove rates. Do not apply to inaccessible crawl spaceareas using pressures greater than 25 psi at the treat-ment tool when the valve is open.

Drill spacing must be at intervals not toexceed 16 inches. Many states have smaller intervalsso check state regulations which may apply.To prevent subterranean termites from constructingmudtubes between soil and crawl space wood mem-bers above, an overall soil treatment of this productmay be applied. Remove all cellulose debris beforeapplication. Apply 1 gallon of solution (see APPLICA-TION VOLUME) per 10 square feet to provide a uniformchemical treated zone.SHALLOW FOUNDATIONS: For shallow foundations,one foot or less in depth, dig a narrow trench approxi-mately 6 inches wide and deep along the outside andinside of the foundation walls, being careful not to digbelow the bottom of the footings. The surface application will be made ata rate of 1.5 gallons of solution per 10 square feet asa very coarse spray under low pressure (not to exceed25 psi when measured at the treating tool when valveis on).When treating plenums, turn off the air circulation sys-tem of the structure until application has been com-pleted and all termiticide has been absorbed by thesoil.TREATMENT AROUND WELLS OR CISTERNS: Do notcontaminate wells or cisterns.Structures With Wells/Cisterns Inside Foundations:Structures that contain wells or cisterns within thefoundation of a structure can only be treated using thefollowing techniques:1. Do not apply within 5 feet of any well or cistern by

Structures With Adjacent Wells/Cisterns and/orOther Water Bodies: Applicators must inspect allstructures with nearby water sources such as wells,cisterns, surface ponds, streams, and other bodies ofwater and evaluate, at a minimum, the treatment rec-ommendations listed below prior to making an appli-cation.1. Prior to treatment, if feasible, expose the water

pipe(s) coming from the well to the structure, if thepipe(s) enter the structure within 3 feet of grade.

2. Prior to treatment, applicators are advised to takeprecautions to limit the risk of applying the termiti-cide into subsurface drains that could empty intoany bodies of water. These precautions includeevaluating whether application of the termiticide to

the top of the footer may result in contamination ofthe subsurface drain. Factors such as depth to thedrain system and soil type and degree of com-paction should be taken into account in determiningthe depth of treatment.

3. When appropriate (i.e., on the water side of thestructure), the treated backfill technique (describedabove) can also be used to minimize off-site move-ment of termiticide.

Exterior Perimeter/Interior Spot TreatmentUSE INFORMATIONExterior Perimeter/Interior Spot Treatment is an option-al method of termite treatment only for use in post-construction applications, after the final grade isestablished. Structural protection when using theExterior Perimeter/Interior Spot Treatment is accom-plished by: 1) establishing a continuous treated zonearound the entire exterior foundation wall of the build-ing; and 2) spot-treating infested areas on the buildinginterior. Soil adjacent to the exterior foundation wallmust be treated in the same manner as conventional(full) application. It is required that a complete andcontinuous treated zone be achieved around the entireexterior perimeter, including under any attached slabssuch as garages, porches, patios, driveways and pave-ment adjoining the foundation. Interior spot treatmentsmust then be made to any indoor areas where termite

activity is present. Optional interior spot treatmentsmay also be made to high risk areas including, but notlimited to, plumbing and utility penetrations (includingbath traps), along settlement cracks and expansionjoints, and dirt-filled porches.Exterior Perimeter/Interior Spot Treatment can be usedeither as a preventative treatment (before structuralinfestation occurs) or as a curative treatment (afterstructural infestation occurs) in existing structures.Preventative treatment does not include pre-construc-tion applications made to protect new construction. Itis required that a thorough structural inspection becompleted, before treatment, to locate all areas ofactive infestation. Spot treatment of all known sites oftermite activity is required with this optional labeling. Ifno termite activity is observed inside the structure,interior spot treatments are not required. Do not applyat a lower dosage and/or concentration than specifiedon this label.EXTERIOR PERIMETER TREATMENTIt is required that all structures, regardless of the typeof construction, be protected by establishing a verticaltreated zone along the outer perimeter of the founda-tion wall. Spottreatment at the site(s) of termite activity must extenda minimum of 3 feet on both sides. Treat masonryvoids by applying 2 gallons of solution per 10 linearfeet to the lower part of the void so that it reaches thetop of the footing or soil. Depending on the circumstances, foam applicationsmay be used alone or in combination with liquid solu-tion applications. Applications may be made behindveneers, piers, chimney bases, into rubble foundations,into block voids or structural voids, wall voids, underslabs, stoops, porches, or to the soil in crawlspaces,and other similar voids.Foam and liquid applications must be consistentwith volume and active ingredient instructions inorder to ensure proper application has been made.The volume and amount of active ingredient areessential to an effective treatment. At least 75% ofthe gallons of Premise 2 Insecticide must beapplied as a typical liquid treatment. methods suitable to the site and pest.CONTROL OF WOOD INFESTING PESTSFor control of above ground termites and carpenterants in localized areas, apply a 0.05 to 0.1% solutionor sufficient volume of PREMISE 2 Insecticide foam tovoids and galleries in damaged wood, and in spacesbetween wooden structural members and between thesill plate and foundation where wood is vulnerable.Applications may be made to inaccessible areas bydrilling, and then injecting the suspension or foam witha suitable directional injector into the damaged woodor wall voids. Termite carton nests in building voidsmay be injected with a 0.05 to 0.1% suspension orfoam. Multiple injection points to varying depths maybe necessary. It is desirable to physically remove car-ton nest material from building voids when such nestsare found. Application to attics, crawl spaces, unfin-ished basements, or man-made voids may be madewith a coarse fan spray of 0.05 to 0.1% solution orfoam to control exposed worker and winged reproduc-tive forms of termites or carpenter ants. This type ofapplication is intended to be a supplemental treatmentfor control of above ground subterranean termites andcarpenter ants. It is recommended to remove or prune away anyshrubbery, bushes, and tree branches touching thestructure. Vegetation touching the structure may offer

a route of entry for ants into the structure. This mayallow ants to inhabit the structure without coming incontact with the treatment. If nests are found, directtreatment of PREMISE 2 Insecticide can be made tothese nests.Use a 0.05 to 0.1% solution to control existing infesta-tions of or to prevent infestation by termites or carpen-ter ants in trees, utility poles, fencing and deckingmaterials, landscape timbers and similar non-structur-al wood-to-soil contacts. If possible, locate the interiorinfested cavity and inject a 0.05 to 0.1% solution orsufficient volume of PREMISE 2 Insecticide foam usingan appropriate treatment tool with a splashback guard.These non-structural wood-to-soil contacts may alsobe treated by applying a solution to the soil as a spotapplication or continuous treated zone applied as adrench or by rodding around the base of the point(s) ofsoil contact(s). Rod holes should be placed approxi-mately 3 inches away from the soil contact point(s) andspaced no more than 12 inches along the perimeter ofthe soil contact(s). For small poles or posts (< 6 inch-es in diameter), apply 1 gallon per foot of depth. Forlarger constructions, apply 4 gallons per 10 linear feetper foot of depth. Retreat as needed to maintain pro-tection.Termite carton nests in trees may be injected with a0.05 to 0.1% solution or sufficient volume of foam

using a pointed injection tool. Multiple injection pointsto varying depths may be necessary. Removal of car-ton material from trees is desirable but may not benecessary when foam application is used. In someinstances, a perimeter application of a 0.05% to 0.1%solution applied to soil around the root flare of the treemay be necessary to prevent reinfestation by termitesin the soil. For small trees (< 6 inches in diameter),apply 1 gallon of solution. For larger trees, apply 4 gal-lons per 10 linear feet (measured as the circumferenceat the root flare).For protection of firewood or other wood productsstored in contact with soil from carpenter ants and ter-mites, treat soil prior to stacking with a 0.05 to 0.1%solution at 1 gallon per 10 square feet to prevent infes-tation. Curative application to the soil around firewoodor other wood products stored in contact with soil maybe made as described for non-structural wood-to-soilcontacts (above).Drywood termites and wood-infesting beetles orborers (such as, but not limited to, powder post bee-tles, anobiid or deathwatch beetles, false powder postbeetles, old house borers, wharf borers, or ambrosia orbark beetles). Galleries and structure voids can betreated with sprays, mists, or foams of a 0.05 to 0.1%PREMISE 2 Insecticide solution. Locate galleries byusing visual signs (frass or pellets, blistered wood,

emergence or clean out holes), the presence of liveinsects, mechanical sounding techniques, or listeningdevices (e.g., stethoscopes, acoustic emission detec-tors). Penetrate the gallery system by drilling holes toreceive the injector tip or treatment tool. Distribute drillholes to adequately cover the gallery system. [NOTE:Avoid drilling where electrical wiring, plumbing lines,etc. are located.] Apply PREMISE 2 Insecticide solu-tions as a low pressure (about 20 psi) spray or by mist-ing or, where appropriate, by foaming. It is not neces-sary to treat to the point where runoff is detected fromadjacent holes. [NOTE: Do not apply where electricalshock hazards exist.] Drill holes should be sealed aftertreatment. Also, wood surfaces can be sprayed ormisted with a 0.05 to 0.1% solution or, where appro-priate, use a sufficient volume of foam. For inaccessi-ble surfaces, drill and treat the interior of structuralvoids. Surfaces treated may include exposed woodensurfaces in crawlspaces, basements, or attics, woodenexterior surfaces such as decks, fencing, or siding,structural voids, channels in damaged wood, in spacesbetween wooden members of a structure, and junc-tions between wood and foundations. Apply by brush-ing or as a coarse, low pressure (about 20 psi) spray tothe wood surface; apply sufficient volume to cover thesurface to the point of wetness, but avoid applying tothe point of runoff. areas, cover surfaces below the treated area with plas-tic sheeting or similar material. Avoid contact withtreated surfaces until spray deposits have dried.Retreat as needed to maintain protection.Localized treatment for carpenter bees: Apply a0.05 to 0.1% solution as a spray or mist, or sufficientvolume of foam, directly into gallery entrance holes.Following treatment, entrance holes may be pluggedwith small pieces of steel wool or similar material.RETREATMENTRetreatment for subterranean termites can only beperformed if there is clear evidence of reinfestation ordisruption of the treated zone due to construction,excavation, or landscaping and/or evidence of thebreakdown of the termiticide treated zone in the soil.These vulnerable or reinfested areas may be retreatedin accordance with application techniques described inthis product’s labeling. The timing and type of theseretreatments will vary, depending on factors such astermite pressure, soil types, soil conditions and otherfactors which may reduce the effectiveness of thetreated zone. Retreatment may be made as either aspot or complete treatment. When a structure is not known to be reinfested and thetreated zone is not disturbed, but where the structurewas last treated five or more years ago, retreatmentmay be performed if, in the judgement of the applica-
