Sankofa
is a Ghanaian word that translates
“Go back and fetch it”
and also refers to a symbol of a bird
with its head turned backwards
while its feet face forward
carrying a precious egg in its mouth.
The Sankofa bird represents
the need to reflect on the past
in order to build a successful future.
The fire represents the energy of the past
that will carry us into the future.
It is the Sankofa
that inspires our reflection on our past
as IHM and Oblate Sisters,
celebrating a spirit of unity
while moving into our shared future.

Ave Maria, full of grace
Bearer of Christ to ev’ry race
O Maria, Alleluia!
Re-joice O people loud and clear
Sing out with joy for all to hear
O Maria, O Maria, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Salve Regina, woman-strong
Through gauntlet, pain and trials long
O Maria, Alleluia!
Called out by race and color’s creed
These daughters flourished from thy seed
O Maria, O Maria, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Praise, love, thanksgiving ever sing
Faith, peace and justice echoing
O Maria, Alleluia.
Pro-claim the gospel to the world
Be-lov’d Community unfurled
O Maria, O Maria, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Urged by love we work as one in Christ, God’s Ser-vants hand in hand
Shap-ing minds, and sow- ing seeds of peace and jus- tice through the land.
With our found-ers’ dream of mis- sion, we walk on with great de- light
To a life of new- found vi- sion and Church of new-found sight.
We now bow be- fore our found- ers, like stars to guide our way
On a jour- ney bright and boun-ti-ful, God bless-es us this day! 17

Lectura I — Amós 7:12-15
‘Ve y profetiza a mi pueblo, Israel’ ”.

Responsorial Psalm — Psalm 85
Reading II — Ephesians 1:3-14
Blessed be the God and Parent of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
as God chose us in Christ, before the foundation of the world,
to be holy and without blemish before the Divine-Self.
In love God destined us for adoption through Jesus Christ,
in accord with the favor of God’s will,
for the praise of the glory of God’s grace
granted us in the beloved.
In Christ we have redemption by his blood,
the forgiveness of transgressions,
in accord with the riches of God’s grace that God lavished upon us. In
all wisdom and insight, God has made known to us
Let us

the mystery of the Divine will in accord with God ’s favor
that was set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of times,
to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.
In Christ we were also chosen,
destined in accord with the purpose of the One
who accomplishes all things according to the intention of the Divine will,
so that we might exist for the praise of God’s glory,
we who first hoped in Christ.
In Christ you also, who have heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him,
were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
which is the first installment of our inheritance
toward redemption as God’s possession, to the praise of God’s glory.

Evangelio — Marcos 6:7-13
Expulsaban a
los demonios, ungían con aceite a los enfermos y los curaban.
Homily — Joseph Cardinal Tobin, CSsR

(English) That our four congregations may assist the entire
Church in becoming a prophetic witness of peace and justice
to a world in need of compassionate example. We pray…

together to cast out from the human family all hunger,
materialism, prejudice, racism and injustice. Oramos…

gathering may arrive safely at their destinations refreshed
and rejuvenated by the warmth of the Spirit’s fire. Oramos...
