HighDRO® Fire Protection Tanks

HT– 1129

Durable... Reliable... Affordable!

HighDRO® Fire Protection Tanks (HD-FPT) are atmospheric water storagetanks specifically designed for use ina residential, commercial, or institu-tional building’s fire protection sys-tem. A properly sized HD-FPT willmake a valuable contribution duringfire fighting emergencies, especiallywhen fire fighting demands morewater than the building’s domesticwater feed line can supply or duringintervals of troubling regional watershortages.

All components comply with the rele-vant standards to ensure that the sys-tem will provide years of reliableservice. Specifically, they are designed, fabricated, tested, inspected, and in-stalled in accordance with the NationalFire Protection Association NFPA Stan-dard No. 22, "Water Tanks for PrivateFire Protection.” Pre-engineered com-ponents such as Victaulic© fittings, ex-ternal water stops, tank sumps, pumpstation mounts, and anti-vortex de-vices are usually supplied with thetank. NSF, AWWA, or UL compliantprotective coatings are factory appliedand form a hard, inert barrier for boththe interior and exterior surfaces ofthe tank to prevent corrosion.

HD-FPT are required by local firecodes to provide a dedicated sourceof fire fighting water for rural, suburban, and urban communities.Water distribution system require-ments from local municipalities canbe unattainable or prohibitive dueto the remote areas being exten-sively developed. This is a commonoccurrence in rural commercial or in-stitutional buildings served by a wellwith limited delivery volume. In thiscase, water must be stored and avail-able in sufficient quantity to satisfythe fire sprinkler pump demand.

More often, HD-FPT are required byfire codes as secondary on-site watersupply for use with a building’s automatic sprinkler systems for fire suppression.

Some codes may allow domesticwater storage tanks to also be uti-lized in fire protection applications. To provide for fire protection, a firereserve is needed in addition to thecalculated domestic water demand. When used in this application, thetank is designed so that the domes-tic water is drawn from a levelabove the designated fire reserve.

Tradition and Technology

Highland has extensive experiencein the design, manufacture and in-stallation of water storage systemsspecifically for the fire industry.

• Low Cost

• Long Life

• Low Maintenance

• Rapid Installation

• Easy to Transport, Ideal for Remote Areas

The time-tested technology of ouraboveground HD-FPT is impressive because their installation is more cost effective than underground tanks. Operation and inspection are easy and they are easy to drainand clean. However, they do takeup space! When you want your fire fighting water containment out of sight and out of mind, ourunderground HD-FPT are an avail-able alternative. When installed underground, these tanks providean unseen protection for the residents, save valuable space, reduce visual obstruction, and are easily accessible for fire and municipal vehicles.

Flat - the most commonly used tanksin the industry; requires a flat sur-face to give full support.

Dish with Ring Base or Legs - offersnear complete drainage; usedwhen head pressure is required atthe output.

Cone with Ring Base or Legs - offerscomplete drainage.

Vertical Tank Bottoms

For over 30 years, HighlandTank has been the leading inno-vator in the development ofwater storage solutions. Our in-house engineering departmentcan provide unique designs tomeet your specific needs includ-ing custom fabricated rectangu-lar water storage tanks,roof-top tanks, and robust tanksfor earthquake zones, hurricaneregions, and highly specializedenvironments.
