Bison leather is a preferred leather for a wide array of native craft items, but many times the heavy weight and nature of this leather does not make it possible. We now offer a bison split that eliminates this problem. Split down to a weight averaging around 3-1/2 oz, these hides are a nice color at an unbelievable price. Hide size ranges from 5-8 SF. Perfect for mocassins, bags and small garments.

Bison SplitsNatural

Smoked

White Moccasin Suede CowhideWhite Moccasin Suede Cowhide is hard to find in a good white color, but we just received a batch that is very nice. Most is slightly firmer than our normal buckskin color, which makes it desirable for moccasins, gaiters, half-leggings, shooting bags, & more. Sueded on both sides, it is fairly heavy, and will wear well. Hides average anywhere from 5 to over 10 square feet.

Super soft & lighter weight than commercial buckskin, these hides are sueded on both sides, which is nice for garments & other craftwork. Similar in appearance to brain tan, the white hides are like unsmoked, while the natural is the color of smoked. Average size is 4 - 12 square feet, so we may substitute if these sizes are not available.

White Garment Buckskin

Bison Suede – Wheat ColorWe found this special lot of extra large, natural color Buffalo Suede Leather at a great price! Dyed in a nice wheat color, it resembles lightly smoked buckskin but is a heavier weight, at about 5 ounces. Softly tanned, it’s sueded on both sides and perfect for moccasins, tipi bags, leggings, coats & jackets, half leggings, shooting pouches, various bags, & much more. There is a little color variation on the flesh side, which usually doesn’t show. Hides average from 15 to over 18 square feet.

Ship Lantern

Paul Revere Tin Lantern

Here’s another popular version of the authentic Paul Revere style. The 5” x 7” glass pane of this handsome lamp has the advantage of throwing a lot more light than one without. Although often used on ships, the all around illumination makes it great for camp or tent use. Just lift the glass for easy access to replace candles or to clean. Made of hand punched tin, crafted like the originals. Size: 12”H x approx. 5” base. Holds 9” candles, not included.4684-013-001 Reg $29.00 $23.20 Ea

Colonial LanternHere’s a large tin lantern of a common style dating from before the Revolution. The size (15” H x 6-1/2” square) and glass panes throw a lot of light, while the hinged door gives quick access to change & light candles and for cleaning. The pierced chimney is typical of the period and provides good ventilation. Holds 9” candles, not included.4684-013-003 Reg $39.00 $31.20 Ea

By the 1800s, the pierced tin lantern known as the Paul Revere style had gained considerable popularity. These candle lamps were more rugged than lanterns with expensive glass panes, which were hard to come by. Our tin lamp is based on an historic example and handpunched like the originals. At 13-1/2”H x 4 3/4” diameter, it holds a standard 9” beeswax candle and is ideal for camps, tents or tipis. 4684-013-002 Reg $29.00 $23.20 Ea

We were lucky enough to get a good supply of old style bone hairpipe. This hairpipe has a thicker middle and a nice tapered shape more reminiscent of older historical pieces. Originally produced by Native Americans from the columns of marine Conch shells, early forms of elongated beads have long been in use in North America. They were gradually replaced by glass, brass and silver until Eastern wampum manufacturers began producing shell hairpipe from the West Indian conch sometime in the late 1700s. Carried by the Lewis & Clark Expedition, the Northwest Company and Auguste Chouteau as trade goods, both bone and shell hairpipe are mentioned in American Fur Company records from the 1840s. Beginning around 1880 they began to be produced commercially and have been available ever since. Our Hairpipes are pro-duced to our specifications from genuine bone in traditional barrel shape and are uniform in both size and quality.

These breastplate spacers are pre-punched with approximately 60 holes per strip. Each strip measures approximately 24 inches in length and 3/8 inches wide (holes are 7/16” apart on center). They are designed to make any traditional size of breastplate. This will really save you a lot of time on your next craft project. You can also use the leftover lengths for child’s breastplates or mini-breastplate chokers.
