6 Ways Carnival Last week we hosted the annual 6 Ways athletics carnival here in Burren Junction. A huge thank you to

Walgett Shire for ensuring that the field was perfect for the big day. As usual seeing our buddies from Bourke /

Walgett Distance Education, Gwabegar, Pilliga, Rowena and St John’s, Barradine was a great treat. The day

was a terrific show of sportsmanship and fine efforts all round. What a fabulous day organised by the BJPS

staff, with special mention for Mrs Slack-Smith’s huge input into making the day a fantastic success.

St John’s took out the marching and war cry award with Burren Junction Public School being declared the out-

right wining school on the day.

Congratulations to Alli and Milly for their efforts to create a catchy war cry and to Miss Mooney and Miss

Whiteley for all their work around the marching and the music.

Special mention also to the Burren Junction parents, Mr Campbell, Mr McMahon, Mr Marshall and Mr Jack-

son for their terrific effort in the parent relay. This is the third year in a row that the BJPS parents have won

the parent relay. Way to go parents!

Next year we are off to Gwabegar.

Foyer display Please visit the school foyer to see the 2/3/4 class’ artwork on display. Thank you Mrs Cain.

Parent Teacher Interviews Thank you to all the parents who attended the recent Parent Teacher interviews. If you were unable to attend

on the day could you please contact your child’s teacher to organise another time for the interviews please?

The School Play Mrs Lucinda Stump has started the auditions and practise for the school play. Everyone was so excited espe-

cially the K-1 class who this week did a whole focus on Ancient Egypt as part of their background for the play.

Opening night for the play will be on Friday the 18th of October at the newly refurbished Burren Junction

School of Arts Hall.

Mrs Stump is looking for volunteers to sew costumes. If you are able to assist then please contact Mrs Stump.

Moorambilla, 2019 Last week Sam attended the camp and training sessions to prepare for the Moorambilla Voices performance.

Congratulations to Sam for being selected for Moorambilla, 2019. This is Sam’s second appearance at Mooram-

billa as he was previously selected in 2017.
