MLK INSPIRATIONAL WEEKEND
STAND FOR SOMETHINGMLK BREAKFAST OR LUNCHEON JANUARY 18, 2019MLK DAY OF SERVICE JANUARY 21, 2019
Dr. King’s dream was to create a nation where people were judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. The YMCA of South Florida has been working hard to incorporate these dreams into our communities. For the past 15 years, we have been honoring his legacy during our Inspirational Weekend, which includes a Breakfast in Broward, a Luncheon in Miami and Day of Service throughout our counties. This year our Day of Service project sites will be at the LA Lee YMCA Family Center in Broward and the Village of Allapattah YMCA Family Center and Preschool in Miami-Dade. Contact Maria Villavicencio at 954-334-9622 ext. 1043 or [email protected] for more information.
Each year, the Inspirational Breakfast and Luncheon bring over 800 members of the business and civic community together to honor Dr. King’s legacy. Proceeds from these events support financial assistance scholarships to allow youth to participate in our many programs from preschool to after school to camp to youth sports all within our Youth Development programs. The Y believes all children deserve the ability to reach their potential, no matter their ability to pay. We invite you to join us, STAND FOR SOMETHING, and help support us in strengthening our children and our communities.
You too can STAND FOR SOMETHING all year round through volunteer opportunities. Please contact your local YMCA Family Center for opportunities to volunteer and make a difference in your community.

Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb
agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. Martin Luther King Jr. ”
