Chassis: backbone tube with frame

The backbone tube chassis has a frame with central tube construction. The high torsional rigidity of the tubular frame enables optimal distribution of the occurring forces. The body, which is mounted on a subframe with cone bearings, is generally not subjected to torsional forces. In addition, all movable drive components are installed internally in the frame. They are thus optimally protected against damage and contamination.

Unconditional perfection

The development goal for the TIGON was: maximum extinguishing performance regardless of the terrain. This radical goal required the perfect combination of a backbone tube chassis designed for off-road use with the cab. The result: a unique industrial vehicle for the most challenging operations.

Uncompromising, modular axle technology

Challenging operations require an uncompromising design. The half-axles are able to move freely. This special axle design is made possible by a differential gear, which is not located in the center of the axle like the classic differential gear, but in the backbone tube frame. Each of these differentials has a locking function, which gives the TIGON outstanding mobility on difficult terrain. Depending on the required design, the chassis can be constructed with four to five axes.

24 R 21 tires

Wide 24 R 21 tires with an integrated tire pressure system enable travel on nearly any surface. The tire pressure as well as the contact area vary depending on the condition of the surface. The system provides traction long after conventional tires would have failed. The TIGON can handle high live loads even in extreme conditions like snow and sand.

In terms of the drive, the TIGON makes no compromises. Rosenbauer relies on a proven Volvo engine for its highly specialized industrial fire fighting vehicle. The drive is designed for maximum durability and maximum service life. With 515 kW/700 hp, the unit also has large power reserves, which means the engine does not reach its maximum capacity, even in pump & roll operation. The fully automatic converter transmission guarantees remarkable ride comfort, which, among other things, allows emergency crews to focus on essential tasks at all times.

Fire fighting force never rests

Pump & roll - which means extinguishing while driving – for instance is required for aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicles and is also a feature of the TIGON. The special industrial fire fighting vehicle comes standard with a Rosenbauer special PTO transmission. The PTO (power take-off) distributes the force between the pump unit and power train. This allows the pumps and turrets to be operated simultaneously while traveling at full speed.

Performance without compromise

Extremely well protected braking system

Use on extreme terrain requires appropriately designed vehicles. This principle applies particularly to the braking system. The brakes of the TIGON are optimally protected with „protected brake piping.“ The vehicle built for extreme terrain situations meets the highest safety standards. Damage to the braking system while driving on rough terrain is largely ruled out.

What happens when market-leading extinguishing technology meets an off-road chassis equipped with trucking genes? Answer: The expectations for the cab and body are just as high. No problem. These expectations are not only met, they are exceeded: the body and cab form an extremely robust and perfectly matched unit. A unit that lives up to the well-known Rosenbauer standard.

Impressive construction

The use of laser-cut, bent, and glued profiles results in an extremely torsion-resistant yet light construction. This makes it possible to keep the center of gravity of the vehicle low.

Another advantage of this lightweight design: thanks to its decreasing dead load, the TIGON can accommodate a bigger payload. In turn, its adaptability is due to the modular composition of the individual components. The result is an extremely flexible fire fighting vehicle suitable for all kinds of operations: the TIGON.

XXL water tank

As standard, the TIGON 8x8 has a 9,000 l water tank and a 3,500 l foam tank. The material used is polypropylene, which is why the tank is also ideal for the transport of drinking water. And once again, it is the modular design

of the vehicle that brings additional benefits: the gradual expansion of the tank capacity up to 25,000 liters.

Easy to maintain quality

The HYDROMATIC system, completely designed and produced by Rosenbauer, sets standards in terms of durability and ease of maintenance. All components are characterized by high efficiency, which is reflected by maximum reliability in use.

For even more extreme demands, a gear pump with a delivery capacity of 1,200 l/min (300 gpm) is available. In combination with the N130 universal pump, Rosenbauer thus offers maximum striking power. The HYDROMATIC 1200 allows continuous mixing of 1-7% foam concentrate. The proportioning ratio can be set separately for each outlet.

Accurate, reliable and modern: the Rosenbauer HYDROMATIC proportioning system provides the right basis for a wide range of applications. Industrial applications in particular are characterized by high demands on the flexibility of the extinguishing teams due to the large variety of combustible materials. The standard built-in HYDROMATIC foam pump G8 with a delivery rate of 800 l/min at 17 bar (200 gpm at 250 psi) ensures that the water-foam mixture is always available to extinguish quickly and efficiently.

H5 High pressure pump

To be well equipped for all operational scenarios, the TIGON can alsobe equipped with a water-saving H5 pump. With up to 500 l/min and 40 bar pressure (130 gpm at 600 psi), the H5 is the perfect solution for fast attack scenarios.

Powder extinguishing system

The powder extinguishing system is desi-gned for special applications. The powder is precisely distributed to the target either using a rapid intervention hose reel or the ChemCore nozzle, which is positioned on the roof.

RM80CCN/RM130CCN

9,500 or 15,000 l/min (2,500 resp. 4,000 gpm) can be applied safely at a throw range of up to 100 or more than 120 m. The turret is characterized by its electrical control by means of a pistol grip control and remote control device. The ChemCore nozzle allows the use of a combined powder-water jet.

RM15C bumper turret

With up to 2,000 l/min at 10 bar (500 gpm at 150 psi), the RM15C is a versatile turret. Its compact design makes it an excellent bumper turret for largespecialty firefighting vehicles. The joystick control allows the targeted distribution of water and foam up to 70 m.

Logic Control System (LCS 2.0)

The Logic Control System is proof that Rosenbauer can achieve ease of use even with the most complex systems. LCS 2.0 is an intuitive user interface and represents the perfect interface between firefighter and vehicle. The system is extremely adaptable. It can be configured according to customer requirements for a wide variety of applications and is used in every Rosenbauer vehicle. The high-end version of the TIGON is equipped with a 10“ display and state-of-the-art CAN bus system.

Undertruck nozzles

Whether extreme terrain or burning hot underground - the TIGON can handle it all! The undertruck nozzles serve as self-protection against fire and flamma-ble liquids and protect against excessive heat. They are attached to the front of the vehicle and between the axles and thus contribute significantly to the safety of the crew.

LED lighting

Emergencies never happen at a convenient time. Because a high-performance lighting concept is extremely important, especially in the dark, dusk and poor visibility, Rosenbauer equips the TIGON with state-of-the-art LED lights. Efficient lighting promotes safety, makes work easier, and increases productivity at the scene of the emergency. Because it is extremely important and every detail counts in an emergency.

Highly efficient and energy-saving LED indicators and lights turn night into day in the operating environment. In doing so, Rosenbauer also significantly contributes to avoiding operating errors with the TIGON and offers optimal safety in emergencies.

The FLEXILIGHT also scores points with its enhanced scene light, with a focus position that illuminates every area around the vehicle, and which is easy to operate. The light mast can be controlled using a radio remote control with a range of more than 100 m and the Logic Control System.

The features of the FLEXILIGHT LED are available as options. The FLEXILIGHT LED is the most flexible way of providing light around the vehicle and directly at the scene with the light mast. The highest light yield with minimal power consumpti-on is guaranteed. The 180° swiveling and also rotating light mast head produces a light cone that illuminates everything from ground textures to tall objects.
