Term 3 Week 9
The Golden Quill 150th Celebrations
Next year we will be publishing a book to celebrate the amazing history of our
school and to put it simply - We need you!
Although official records are available for the early history of the school, and the
2000’s, we are missing a great deal of information about the school, from around
1940 onwards.
We would like to hear from past students and staff, your memories and stories –
hopefully positive – to share in the publication.
No story is ‘too small’. It is the personal recollections and memories that will help
make the book special. It may just be a few lines or a paragraph.
So to all past students and staff we are calling on you! Send in your stories to us to
share in our 150th publication. Send them by email, fax, snail mail or by stagecoach
if necessary.
Finally, if you would like to be involved in the upcoming 150th celebrations in 2020
we’d love to hear from you. We have started some planning, everyone is welcome
to become involved.
Term 3 Food and Agriculture
Our studies for the term are wrapping up and what an incredible term of study. We
have covered everything from vegetables, crops, dairy, wool and chicken farming,
soils, shearing and gardening!
Next week the classroom will again be open for guests to come and view student
work. The portal is bursting with student work and we will be celebrating the end
of a great term.
Congratulations to all of the students who handed in the latest homework project.
Special mention to both Toby and Emily for putting in a little extra effort with their
projects, well done.
Maths Matters
Brains have been buzzing this week as we have targeted fractions this week in
maths. The children have been converting, adding and modelling fractions.

Well, it’s been another busy week at Hill End Public School.
It’s hard to believe that next week is the last week of Term 3.
Our students have worked very hard during the term on
their topic Food and Agriculture. Students have researched
and created some incredible book work about the topic.
They have also completed two information reports for
homework and are working on number three. They have
also finished their PowerPoint presentations on the
‘Shearing Shed’. The portal space looks amazing with so
much information and art and craft about food and
agriculture. Hill End Public School provides dedicated and
experienced teachers for students to engage and learn.
SAKGP Spring is in the air and students are well into their Spring sowing as part of their Stephanie Alexander Kitchen
Garden Program. Over the past two weeks they have planted in seed trays and into the vegetable garden.
It was so good to get some beautiful rain on Tuesday, that will help their seeds. We look forward to seeing
them sprout over the next week or so. We all hope there will be plenty more rain, especially for our farmers.

Calling all past students and staff. If you have
any memories of past milestone events at Hill
End Public School we’d love to hear from you.
They can be related to open days, fetes, festivals,
fundraisers and any other events. Please contact
us at addresses or phone number below.
We’d love to hear from you!
Imogen and Charlie had a lovely time at
Little Diggers last Friday. They listened
to a story, played in the sandpit and
coloured in some pictures with Edmond
in the afternoon with some help from
Mrs Kimm and Rebecca. Imogen also
visited the library during the week
with her mum Rebecca.
Our breakfast club has continued to be a great
success during Term 3. It’s such a great start to
the day, all students are ready and alert for their
lessons of the day. We will definitely continue
the breakfast club next term. Go health!
