AQUATIC’S MODULAR CAROUSEL: GLOBAL APPLICATIONS, PLUG & PLAY CAPABILITY
Aquatic, an Acteon company, includes
modular carousels in its equipment
portfolio to deliver faster mobilisations,
for broader product diameters and longer
product lengths.
With the modular carousel, flexible products require fewer subsea
connections, making the Aquatic carousel the practical alternative
for continuous deployment, bringing significantly reduced operational
costs for our customers.
CUSTOMER DEMAND
Today’s customers demand experienced personnel to safely handle
product. With that, comes a consistent requirement for portability or
modularity when hiring equipment, reducing the impact on schedules,
product connections and allowing for greater flexibility based on a
wider range of host vessels.
Seeking an enhanced range of mobilisation ports, they want to handle
equipment and product at compact quaysides, with choice on the
size and number of lifts to mobilise equipment. Mobilisations and
demobilisations have to be as efficient as possible, with equipment
delivered and able to function on any chosen vessel.
Aquatic’s innovative modular carousel affords optimised product
handling and storage. With its reel translated through 90 degrees, it
can spool under tension. It meets and exceeds customer expectations
and is truly a game-changer in a market wanting to go in ever deeper
water, with longer lengths of product.
Aquatic’s modular carousel is truly a plug and play alternative for the
global oil and gas, telecommunications and energy industries.

CAROUSEL
The carousel’s drive uses up to six
hydraulic motors, mounted at three
stations via a sprocket gear to the
chain attached on the outside lip of
the bottom flange wedges.
TOWER TENSIONER
The level wind tower tensioner is
set in render mode to provide the
required back tension. The speed
is determined by the speed of the
carousel.
DECK TENSIONER
The unit can be set to operate in
manual mode or automatic pay
in/pay-out, i.e., constant tension
render mode.

CAROUSEL DESIGN PRINCIPLES
• The patented 1500Te carousel (AQCS-01-1500) is able to be
operated in adverse vessel conditions, enabling the carousel to be
installed on a large range of vessels;
• The high design specification has resulted in a very robust unit
which will rarely operate at its design limit;
• Straightforward to put together, take apart and reassemble, the
carousel can be broken down into a variety of configurations with
shipping containers used for transportation;
• The reel has been placed on its side to maximise product capacity
and minimise vessel impact;
• The carousel unit can be mobilised on the quay-side ahead of time
and then craned in three sections (based on crane size) onto the
customer vessel when it docks;
• The flexibility of the carousel system allows it to be utilised for
operations of different total weight product within a single project.
