Intensive English local Certificates

•The Intensive English Program (IEP) at NWTC is designed to prepare students for the academic language demands of college-level coursework. The IEP offers two levels of English instruction: Intermediate and Advanced. Students attend class 4 hours daily in Listening/Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Grammar. Students also

have access to the language lab for independent study and practice in the afternoon. The IEP instructors have many years of experience and have lived

•17 Total Program Credits Technical Diploma with Pathway to Network Specialist AAS•This program prepares its learners to install, support, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers in a business environment. Students are exposed to various aspects of networking, security, data storage, and typical network protocols using CentOS, a RedHat based Linux Distribution. Emphasis is placed on understanding Linux servers, services, users and groups.

Medical Coding Technical Diploma

27 Total Credits with pathway to Health Information Technology• Employment Potential:

The Medical Coding Specialist Certificate is designed to prepare students for employment in all types of healthcare organizations, insurance companies, or government agencies associated with medical coding, reimbursement, health services research, and health care planning. Most of the credits from this certificate can be applied to the Health Information Technology Associate Degree.

• Job market :According to Burning Glass, there is a strong labor market demand for Medical Coders and Health Informatics professionals. In the NWTC district alone, Burning Glass as documented 88 openings in the coding and health informatics field in 2013-14, with an additional 210 documented opening in the greater NWTC region. These completers currently have the option to sit for their CCS certification or to continue to the Health Information Technology Associate Degree program and will be well suited to fill the employment need.

AASThe Criminal Justice Jail Officer Certificate is a 4-week credential designed for individuals seeking certifiability as a jail officer in the state of Wisconsin. Recruits will experience training and scenarios applicable to the correctional environment. This certificate is a pathway into the new Criminal Justice – Professional Studies Associate Degree program.

Employment PotentialGraduates of this certificate will be certifiable in the state of Wisconsin as a jail officer. With further education, these students would also have the ability to go on to be secure juvenile detention officers, probation/parole officers, or law enforcement officers.
