A contractor was hired to renovate the gym space. This was achieved by the building of two rooms in a previously used fitness area, the installation of a new changing room with showers, and a new area for massage therapy. With this construction, we were also able to begin advertising more for women's fitness with the association president, and female members who help lead women's fit- ness and aerobics. We helped promote these new opportunities by inviting Lena Wenzel to come and host a Yoga workshop, which attracted some 60 women and girls. A few weeks later, we held our even larger and more successful Women's Fitness race in Boumia. To promote, we printed several posters and hired a loudspeaker announcer to drive around town. On the day of the race, we were pleased to have 70 women and girls – some who showed up in no more than jalabas and plastic shoes, yet willing to run the distance. During the event, the aerobics instructors demonstrated proper techniques and allowed curious onlookers to try the equipment purchased with grant funds. This project has been an initial success. We are even more excited to see the long-term impact with the increase in the numbers of women and men attending the gym. Our hopes are that the initial momentum we have provided for women's fitness becomes an enduring value for this community to promote and facilitate women's participation in sports and to live healthier lives

The focus of this project was shed on the promotion of women's fitness and the improve-ment of the association's organizational capacity. A contractor was hired to renovate the

gym space. This was achieved by the building of two rooms in a previously used fitness area, the installation of a new changing room with showers, and a new area for massage

therapy. With this construction, we were also able to begin advertising more for women's fitness with the association president, and female members who help lead women's fit-ness and aerobics. We helped promote these new opportunities by inviting Lena Wenzel

to come and host a Yoga workshop, which attracted some 60 women and girls. A few weeks later, we held our even larger and more successful Women's Fitness race in

Boumia. To promote, we printed several posters and hired a loudspeaker announcer to drive around town. On the day of the race, we were pleased to have 70 women and girls

– some who showed up in no more than jalabas and plastic shoes, yet willing to run the distance. During the event, the aerobics instructors demonstrated proper techniques and allowed curious onlookers to try the equipment purchased with grant funds.

This project has been an initial success. We are even more excited to see the long-term

impact with the increase in the numbers of women and men attending the gym. Our

hopes are that the initial momentum we have provided for women's fitness becomes an

enduring value for this community to promote and facilitate women's participation in
