14 / 02 / 2011 minicensus Minicensus and Population and Housing Census 2011 Minicensus was realized as an educational project within the informational and promotional campaign of the upcoming Census 2011 The main aim is to explain pupils and students through a simple statistical survey the principles of collection, procession and using of statistical data in an interesting and practical form. Benefits of Minicensus Educational: Pupils learn how to work with data and develop statistical skills by using real and relevant data. Teachers enrich learning programs of math, civics, information science and other subjects by interesting interactive tasks with data concerning students themselves. Promotional: The project increases confidence in the activities of the Czech Statistical Office. Active medialization leads to wide public positive awareness about upcoming Census 2011. Press conference 1 October Press conference on the occasion of starting the Minicensus took place directly in one of the basic schools in Prague. Time Schedule May 2010 testing phase in 3 selected schools 10 September 2010 addressing schools via letter to directors 1 October - 12 November 2010 Completing questionnaires, preview of interim results in interactive graphs From 13 November 2010 on final results (interactive graphs, data to download, custom processing), sending a summary report to participating schools; rewarding of 3 classes Mechanism of Minicensus The letter to school directors contained all information about the project, instructions on how to participate and a password to login their school. The school representative logs at the websiteand registers the school = i.e. confirms the school wants to participate in the project.www.miniscitani.cz Pupils and students completed the on-line questionnaire using the same password. Answers are immediately stored in a database and displayed in the interim results. When the collection and processing of data is completed, the final results are displayed (enabling detailed view up to the level of particular school or class).
