INVITATION
The Czech Tunnelling Association ITA-AITES cordially invites you to 13th International Conference entitled “Underground Construction Prague 2016”, which will be held in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, from 23rd to 25th May 2016. This is the largest Czech tunnelling conference, which is held regularly every three years. Past conferences, especially Underground Construction Prague 2010 and 2013, confi rmed that the Prague conference thanks to its scientifi c programme, venue and social programme found a fi rm position among similar European conferences. This confi rms the participation of distinguished European and international experts at each conference.
We hope that the attractiveness of the 13th International Conference Underground Construction Prague 2016 will be enhanced by connection with the 3rd Eastern European Tunnelling Conference (EETC 2016). The EETC is a biennial regional tunnelling conference. It aims to promote the sharing of knowledge, experience, skills, ideas and achievements in the design, fi nancing and contracting, construction, operation and maintenance of tunnels and other underground facilities among the countries of Eastern Europe, on an organized basis and with agreed aims. The conference will surely bring interesting information about the impor tant constructions in the Czech Republic, as over 4 km long railway tunnel Ejpovice currently excavated by an EPB shield, upcoming project of the Prague metro line D or fi ndings from the extraordinary constructions opened in Prague in 2015 – the Blanka road tunnel complex and extension of line A of the Prague metro. Many prestigious international projects will be presented, some of them are listed among Invited Lectures and Keynote Lectures. The joint conference will be held at the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague and will include a technical exhibition and a poster session. The conference dinner will take place at the extraordinary and favorite environment of the Brevnov Monastery in Prague 6.
Welcome in our capital city of Prague in its blooming spring beauty.
AUSCIPES

Site visit C: Josef Regional Underground Research Centre The Josef URC is responsible for the operation of the Josef Underground Laboratory, the activities of which commenced in 2007 with the commissioning of 650 metres of underground galleries. Today there is available 5 km of underground galleries for the research activities and for the teaching of students and also the new administrative centre with laboratories is possible to exploit. The Josef Underground Laboratory is used by students from Prague universities as well as those from universities throughout the Czech Republic (approximately 300 students per semester). A total of 12 Czech and other European projects will make use of the underground facilities in 2013.
The lab is located next to Slapy dam, close to Čelina village not far from the town of Příbram (approx. 65 km from Prague).

Site Visit D: Control room Strahov – operation control of the road tunnels in the Prague centreHDŘÚ Praha is the traffi c control centre for road tunnels in Prague and it is the most advanced telematic traffi c control system operated in Prague. The control centre is located in the building of the Central Dispatch Centre of the Prague public transport company at Prague 2. It is operated by members of the police. This specialised centre collects and processes data on the traffi c on specifi c sections of the roads and road network, traffi c data from telematic applications at each level of sensor profi les, process information from plant and equipment and alarms and warnings related to emergencies.
The visit will focus on the control centre and everything related to traffi c monitoring and control in tunnels in the centre of Prague.

TECHNICAL EXCURSIONS
The conference participants can choose from four excursions to the underground structures in and around Prague organised on Wednesday morning, May 25. Please, contact registration desk for more details.
Site visit A: TBM excavation of the tunnel Ejpovice The construction project “Modernization of the railway line Rokycany – Pilsen” is part of the national Railway transit corridor III – western part. The project implements the modernization of the rail line leading from Rokycany to the station Ejpovice mainly along the existing railway body. Between Ejpovice and the station Pilsen – Doubravka it follows the assumed location of the route for the new high-speed line on new land plots. Under the morphological features Homolka and Chlum it is conducted in tunnels. The length of the two single-track tunnels is 4150 meters. The length of the line was thus shortened by about 6100 m.
The tunnels are made by an adjustable EPBM with a diameter of 9.89 m. The excavation is carried downhill in a very complex geological and hydrogeological setting, poor quality Paleozoic and Proterozoic shales and spilites with very high groundwater infl ows. During the construction, rings of steel fi ber reinforced concrete, class C 45/55 with a length of 2.0 m are installed as the fi nal lining. More information can be found on the website: http://www.rokycanyplzen.cz
Meeting point: Clarion Congress Hotel Prague – 1st fl oor (street entrance)Transportation: by bus, departure at 08:00Excursion time: 2,5 to 3 hours, return to the Conference Venue at 14:00Recommended: outdoor shoesProvided: English interpretation, light refreshmentMaximum number of participants: 45 Site visit B: Tunnels and landslide on the highway D8, repository Richard The excursion is focused on the essentially already completed Prackovice and Radejčín tunnels, which are part of the newly built section of the D8 motorway (the expected date of commissioning of the construction project is December 2016). A part of the excursion will also be a visit to the stabilization of the landslide, which occurred in the area of the constructed road in front of the tunnels. The Prackovice tunnel presents a newly constructed two-lane motorway tunnel of category T 9.5. The length of the right tunnel tube is 260 m (tunneled section 138 m), the length of left one is 270 m (tunneled section 155.47 meters). The length of the southern excavated section is 85.8 meters, 25.0 meters in the north one. The actual construction of the tunnel was preceded by an exploration gallery (length 175 m), which was implemented in the right abutment of the left tunnel tube in the length of 175 m.
The tunnel Radejčín connects to the bridge beyond the Prackovice tunnel. The tunnel parameters are the same as for the tunnel Prackovice. The length of the right tunnel tube is 600 m (tunneled section 446 m), the length of the left one 620 m (tunneled section 446 m).
