A… AS AUBAGNE, A… AS ARGILLA From this part of France, you can still hear about these famous families of potters who shook tradition up to serve creativity. The
Sicard’s, the Neveu’s and the Gastine’s are some of these names which have illustrated research and audaciousness in this land.
Nowadays, the craftsmen of this county continue this inventive spirit and have emancipated themselves from the classical
repertory to venture to a more subversive conception.
ARGILLA claims these legitimate roots and confirms, thanks to a great number of professionals, evolution in the Arts of the
Ceramic.
ARGILLA has imposed itself as a referent event.
It was created in 1991 and has been organized by the Community of Towns of the County of Aubagne which helps and supports
the dynamics and development of trades, linked to the Ceramic and Clay field.
The quality and diversity of the Pottery Fair, of the exhibitions and of the animations have made Argilla, this cultural initiative, just
unique.
These elements could be only noticed by the official label Marseille Provence, 2013 European capital of Culture 2013, which
included Argilla as a major event of its program.
During its last edition, in 2013, ARGILLA did confirm its international aspect, with 100.000 visitors, and its pole-position among the
largest and greatest pottery fairs in Europe…
For this 13th edition, ARGILLA simply aims to excellence…
ARGILLA, on the 8th & 9th of August, 2015

ARGILLA, A MEMBER OF THE ARGINET EUROPEAN NETWORK…
On December 4th, 2012, began, with the kick-off meeting in Faenza, the project named ARTISTIC "ARGILLA" (CLAY) ACTIONS FOR
EU CERAMIC NETWORK (in short ARGINET), with the support of the European Union Culture Program.
The project has roots in the relations established between Faenza's ceramic festival, Argillà Italia, with other European cities,
organizers of similar events, in particular with its mother-event ARGILLA in Aubagne (France), Töpfermarkt in Gmunden (Austria),
Fira del Cantir in Argentona (Spain) and Święto Ceramiki in Bolesławiecz (Poland).
ARGINET aims at implementing, within an existing network of partners and events, some of the important goals mentioned in the
European Union Culture Program. In particular, it intends to promote dialogue and intercultural exchange in Europe and to
realize a program of interchange and mid-term development of actions, promoting the presence of artists and ceramic
animations at the European level.

THE POTTERY FAIR…
Over the years, ARGILLA has become THE meeting place of National and International Ceramics.
It is an explosion of colors, shapes, techniques and skills that is offered to visitors, more and more numerous.
More than 200 craftsmen, including some fifty from the territory, settle in the very heart of Aubagne, for these two days of
Ceramics Festival.
This new edition will be a very first for no less than 80 potters, among which 22 will come from abroad.
This is the obvious testimony that ARGILLA‘s fame keeps on growing… crossing borders…
… IN 5 UNIVERSES…
5 continents on Earth… 5 universes… And the Pottery fair is structured in 5 major categories of objects. Fluidity for the visitors,
strolling along the alleys… and an eclectic production…
9
Jewels… Earthenware and porcelain win the prize for the precise achieving of necklaces, rings, brooches and other very feminine jewels.
The combination of glass, metal or leather-string makes this jewelry so fashionable…
Amélie Berthéas
Marta Armada
10
Musical Instruments… Here, ocarinas turn into birds…This is the miracle of Clay… and this is a true bestiary performed by these creations, intensified by
earthenware, glazed earthenware or Raku. Chicks, geese and birds are as decorative as instrumental…
In the ARGILLA Pottery fair, Ceramic turns into Music…

Daily pottery…
This is the whole culinary register that meets here, to brighten your table and make every day a celebration! Diversity of materials,
forms and nuances characterizes this universe.
Glazed earthenware and porcelain play the score of Tradition but also ... of Design and perfection is reached.

Clémence Sylvant
Walpurga Kleisasser
Andrea Biagini

Works and Objects of Art…
A piece of Art requires technical achievement and creativity. It is enriched with a more subjective value than the art-market ... It
is the meeting of the artist and the affinities of the buyer’s universe.
The plasticity of the material, its ability to deal with the firing step, each time different, the personal telling of a story are the
elements of the alchemy of a sculpture, of a precious vase or even of a unique jewel...
