CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our

Saviour; and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels and this

assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in

Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to

strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to give it a place in our

affections, prayers and services above every organization of human origin; to sustain its

worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; to contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God

has prospered us, towards its expenses, for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry

among us, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. In case

of difference of opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit, and if we

cannot unanimously agree, we will cheerfully recognize the right of the majority to govern.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study diligently the word of God,

to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance; to

walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our employ, and faithful in the

service we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will towards all men

to exemplify and commend our holy faith.

We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every

good word and work; to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly exposing the

infirmities of others; to participate in each other’s joys, and with tender sympathy bear one

another’s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take

offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Saviour in the

eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; and through life, amid evil report,

and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God, who hath called us out of darkness into

his marvelous light.

When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible to unite with some other

church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s word.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

Thank you to everyone who supported the Thank you to everyone who supported the $3.0 in 24MO! Campaign and to those who attended the reception. This two year campaign officially ended

on October 31, 2016. To date, the campaign allowed us to pay for the cost of nearly two of the five floors. Your generosity has been overwhelming.

As you can see, we still have a way to go. For those who have not completed their pledge, we want

you to continue your payments even though the campaign has ended from an accounting point of view. All of your future payments will be noted to your pledge. We ask you to continue to support AbyWest. New initiatives will roll out soon as we continue to forge ahead to reach our goal of

$8MM to complete the entire five floor community center.

We continue to strive to attain 100% participation because we want others to know our membership is committed to this effort. Your support is greatly appreciated!

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

ABYSSINIAN INSTITUTE FOR CHRISTIAN EDUCATION 2019 Spring Series

Understanding Depression | Instructor: Dr. Henry McCurtis – Blue Rm.

Tue. 3/19, 4/2, 4/16, 4/30 | 7 PM – 8:30 PM

Although we often say we are depressed when we are having a bad day, disappointing

events or circumstances are a normal part of life and frequently result in passing feelings of

sadness. Depression, on the other hand, is a medical illness that can be associated with

problems at school and/or work, in relationships, and quality of life. It can be precipitated

by an adverse life event or simply occur out of the blue. The good news is that treatment

is available, and recovery is possible. Come learn more about depression.

Storm Tracking: Navigating the Storms of Life | 1st Fl. Conf. Rm.

Instructor: Sis. Charisse Nelson | Fri. 4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/10 | 7 PM – 8:30 PM

In Romans 5:3-5 the Apostle Paul boldly states, “suffering produces endurance, and endurance

produces character, and character hope, and hope does not disappoint us…” but what happens

when the storm is longer than anticipated and what is to be learned during the midst of the

storm. This course will take a look at what the Bible teaches about perseverance. It will

provide both spiritual and practical guidance for storm preparation, navigation, analysis, and

application. It will explore how information gathered during a storm can provide future

testimonies which can aid in navigating future storms as well as help others make it

through their present sufferings.

Spiritual Gifts Workshop | Instructor: Rev. Pamela D. Mason 1st Fl. Conf. Rm.

Thur. 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 | 7 PM – 8:30 PM

Have your spiritual gifts led you to the right ministry? The Holy Spirit is the power source for

all spiritual gifts. By grace these gifts are designed to complement and strengthen the Body

of Christ when they work in harmony together to edify God and fulfill the Great

Commission. Whether you are worshiping, teaching, serving or witnessing to others; the

Holy Spirit has gifted you to be a blessing in someone’s life. Become aware of your spiritual

gifts and gain a deeper understanding of how the Holy Spirit operates through the heart of

believers to build God’s kingdom on earth. Course explores how the gifts bestowed upon

you can enhance your ministry work and assist you in winning more souls for Christ

This month, strengthen your awareness of biblical

facts taken from the book of Exodus. Respond to as

many questions as possible before checking Abyssinian website:

http://abyssinian.org/ministry/christian-education/abyssinian-

institute-for-christian-education/ for the correct Bible

reference points. Remember to be intentional about taking

time to center yourself, as you read the entire chapter where

the answers are found.

1. For how many years did the Israelites live in Egypt? [Exodus12:40–41]

2. Why did Egypt enslave the Israelites? [Exodus 1: 8-14]

3. How did Moses meet his wife Zipporah? [Exodus 2: 11-22]

4. What mountain was Moses on when God called to him from the burning

bush? [Exodus 3:1-5]

simply notifying your company?
