2.2 SWIMMING POOL EQUIPMENT

A. General:

1. Swimming pool equipment such as filtration fittings and deck accessoriesshall be supplied by one manufacturer to the greatest possible extent.

2. Filter and pump shall bear NSF and UL approval labels.

3. Pump and filter capacities as well as the related piping sizes shall be asindicated on the Drawings.

B. Filter: High-rate-pressure, sand filter with a stainless steel low profile unit. Filtershall have a vertical grid design and backwash principle, pre-plumbed andcomplete with face piping, self-priming centrifugal pump, self-adjusting butterflyvalve, automatic air release valve, backwash sight glass, rate of flow indicator,strainer, as well as the necessary controls. Filtering capacity shall be as shown onthe Drawings.

C. Circulating Pump: A self-priming single suction centrifugal pump, made ofcorrosion-resistant bronze for use with sand filter, completely self-priming, with asemi-open impeller and a mechanical shaft seal that shall assure minimal frictionand wear. Pump and motor capacities shall be as shown on Drawings. Provideone duty and one stand-by pumps.

D. Strainers: Hair and lint strainers shall be corrosion resistant bronze with quickrelease lid sealed with O-rings, drain plugs, and thermoplastic baskets that allow aproper water flow when filled with debris.

E. Chemical Control Unit: 2 Solution tanks of the required capacity for chlorine andsoda ash dosing (pH-value control) complete with pumps, agitators, and thenecessary appurtenances for automatic operation. Unit shall be provided withstandard mounting devices and manufacturer's standard accessories to provide acomplete chemical control system ready for use.

F. Automatic Residual Chlorine/Soda-Ash Controller: Provide residual chlorine/soda-ash controller according to the manufacturer's standard as indicated with therequired miscellaneous accessories for the automatic operation.

G. Main Drain: Constructed of a molded white cycolac with a maximum flow asindicated on the Drawings.

H. Wall Inlet Fittings: Directional ball type with flow direction adjustable up to 30o fromcenter, constructed of tough thermo-plastic moldings to suit the type of installationwith no-leak flange and with two mounting holes and a protection cap.

I. Underwater Lights: Fixtures shall be as indicated on Drawings and conforming tothe requirements specified in Division 16 - ELECTRICAL.

J. Electric Pool Water Heater (Interior Pool Only): Provide factory package electricinstantaneous water heater with a shell of SB-96 copper silicon constructionconforming to the requirements of ASME Code Section IV, 1971 for a working

pressure 150 psi. Recovery section with heating capacity as shown on Drawings

shall be completely factory-assembled, including a 14 gage sheet metal enclosurecomplete with hinged door and safety interlock to prevent opening panel doorwithout interrupting power, copper bus bars and lugs for distribution of power, fuseson each load line, magnetic contactors, thermostat, and transformer to providecontrol circuit power at the required voltage. Recovery section shall also includeone electric immersion heating element to obtain the rated KW capacity. Anadditional manual-reset thermostatic control shall be factory installed to disconnectungrounded conductors to the heating elements in the event of an over-temperature condition in the storage section.

K. Diving Board: Fiberglass with non-slip surface, located as shown on Drawings.Fabricate frames and railings from 50 mm diameter stainless steel tubing. Use themanufacturer's standard anchor fittings.

L. Ladders: Fabricated of single continuous length 50 mm diameter stainless steeltubing handrails; 50 x 100 mm stainless steel non-skid treads, and stampedstainless steel escutcheons as indicated on the Drawing.

M. Maintenance Equipment: Provide a complete maintenance set of accessoriesincluding but no limited to a vacuum pool cleaner, wall brush, telescopic pole,thermometer, leaf skimmer, leaf rake and an algae brush.

2.3 WATER FEATURE EQUIPMENT

A. Equipment shall bear NSF and UL approval, and shall be product of a singlemanufacturer to the greater extent possible.

B. Equipment shall be of an approved design including all accessories required forcomplete installation of the water feature and fountain system as indicated on

Drawings.

C. Equipment shall include but shall not be limited to the following:

1. Pumps: Submersible pumps; number and capacities as indicated onDrawings.

2. Valves: Float valves, balancing valves and gate valves as required.

3. Fittings, Accessories and Connections: Fountain nozzles, drain and overflowarmatures fittings, conduits, wiring, underwater lights, electrical and plumbingconnections as shown on Drawings.

D. Submersible Fountain Pumps: Designed for continuous use, with capacities asindicated on Drawings, and shall have bronze motors and pump chambers,stainless steel strainers and impellers, as well as stainless steel shafts and split-shaft motors in special ceramic casing.

E. Fountain Nozzles (Kit): Fountain nozzles shall be of the size and type indicated onDrawings.

F. Overflow/Drain Armatures: Used for emptying fountains and pools as well aspreventing the overflow of pools. Armature shall have a bronze body and stainless

steel grate, with overflow tubes that can be shortened and adjusted to the water
