Steps

1. Check the following items before power-on:

a. Check that the voltage of the power supply is proper with correct polarity.

b. Check that the antenna feeder is correctly installed.

c. Check that the rack, antenna feeder, and lightning protector are properlygrounded.

2. Power on the ZXMW NR8250 by performing the following steps:

a. Ensure that all modules are powered off. Connect one end of the power cable tothe RPUA and PM3 interfaces of IDU. Connect the other end to the external powercabinet or air switch.

b. Switch the power of power cabinet or air switch to "ON".

c. Turn on the PM3 power switch.

d. Turn on the power switches of each RMU board.

3. After powering on the equipment, check the IDU power status to ensure that the RUNindicator of each IDU board is in normal status.

Note:

An NE in the figure refers to an IDU+ODU.

2.2 Adjusting Antennas at Both EndsAdjusting antennas at both ends is the most important testing item in inter-linkcommissioning. This adjustment directly influences the microwave link's performance.

Prerequisite

l The single-site commissioning for microwave devices at both ends of the microwavelink has been completed.

l During the commissioning, the weather is fine between the two sites, without rain, snow, or fog.

l The actual conditions and antenna commissioning personnel meet the requirementfor working at high altitudes.

Steps

1. If the distance between the two sites is larger than 2 km, set the antennas horizontally. If the distance is comparatively short, adjust the antenna's downtilt within a small rangeaccording to actual condition.

2. Connect the multimeter with the local ODU’s BNC port correctly.

Chapter 2 Commissioning Process

3. Adjust the antenna’s horizontal position: fix the remote antenna, use the multimeterto measure the voltage at the BNC port, rotate the antenna in horizontal direction, and make sure that at least three peak signals of BNC are scanned within the rotatingrange, of which the middle one has the highest voltage.

4. Adjust the antenna's downtilt: Adjust the antenna’s downtilt at each position whenBNC port has the peak voltage to make the voltage at NMC port reach the highestvalue within the scanning range. Adjust the antenna to the position where BNC hasthe highest voltage.

5. Adjust the remote antenna. Make the remote receiving level have the highest value.

6. Repeat the steps 1 through 5 for two to four times to make the receiving level at boththe local end and the remote end have the largest value. Fix the antennas at bothends.

7. Use the multimeter to test the voltage at BNC port at both ends (switch the voltageside to DC 20 V. Contact the black probe with the outer of BNC and the red probe withthe inner BNC). Read the current receiving power according to voltage at BNC port ofODU at both ends and the Received Signal Level (RSL) curve.

8. Tighten all screws of the antenna support.

– End of Steps –

2.3 Testing STM–1/4 ServiceThis section describes how to verify the availability of STM-1/4 service if the service isavailable.

Prerequisite

l Antenna adjustment at both ends is completed.l There is STM-1/4 service between two sites.

Steps

1. Connect the device with the commissioning PC and set the corresponding IP address,as shown in Figure 2-4.

2.9 Testing E1 Cable ConnectionBy testing the E1 cable connection, you can check whether the E1 cable is normal andproperly connected to the equipment.

Prerequisite

l The equipment is configured with the E1 interface board.l Service data has been configured.

Steps

1. Connect the E1 interface to the error bit tester. The error bit tester displays the AISalarm.

2. Set the corresponding E1 interface as terminal loopback through WEB LMT.

Observe the error bit tester. The AIS alarm should disappear.

3. Cancel the terminal loopback setting of the current E1 interface through WEB LMT.

Observe the error bit tester. The AIS alarm should be reported.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 5 to test other E1 interfaces.
