The Phoenix has owned the Panthers over the past four seasons winning the last 13 meetings against its in-state Horizon League rival. Milwaukee is one of four conference opponents fifth year head coach Matt Bollant has never lost to, going 10-0 against the Panthers during his tenure. Bollant is also undefeated against Wright State (10-0), Butler (9-0) and Youngstown State (8-0). Green Bay has won its last 28 regular-season games against conference opponents and is currently on a 32-game regular season winning streak, its second longest streak in program history. In four seasons, Bollant has compiled an impressive 68-4 conference record in the Horizon League and an overall mark of 117-17 while guiding Green Bay to three NCAA tournaments and one WNIT. He is the fastest coach in school history to win 100 games.

During the 2009-10 campaign, Green Bay became the youngest team in program history to reach the NCAAtournamentwhileearningthefirsteverHori-zonLeagueat-largebid.BollantledthePhoenixtothesecond round of the NCAA tournament with a thrill-ing 69-67 win over No. 5 seed Virginia, the highest seed Green Bay has ever beaten in the tournament. In the second round, Green Bay led the majority of the contest against No. 4 seed Iowa State only to come up short(56-60).TherespectandadmirationthePhoe-nixearnedonthenationalstagewasunmatchedasGreenBaywasthesecondyoungestteaminthefieldof 64, behind powerhouse Tennessee.

ThePhoenixalsowonits12thstraightregular-seasonHorizonLeaguechampionshipin2009-10,extendingthe nation’s longest active streak. Green Bay alsopicked up strong non-conference wins over NCAA tournament teams Wisconsin and DePaul, as well asMarquette.Asaresult,thePhoenix(28-5)roseashigh as No. 14 in the coaches poll during the year, the highest ranking in school history.

Duringhis second seasonwith thePhoenix,Bollanthelped Green Bay become the first team in leaguehistorytowin18conferencegames.Bollant’seffortsearned him Horizon League Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive season. The 2008-09team went 29-4 and made an appearance in the 2009 NCAA tournament. Bollant was also recognized by theWisconsinBasketballCoachesAssociationastheDivision I Coach of the Year.

In his first season with Green Bay, Bollant guidedthePhoenixtoa26-6recordandtheprogram’s11thstraight postseason berth, a spot in the WNIT and a Horizon League Championship with a 17-1 record in leagueplay.Forhisefforts,BollantgarneredHorizonLeague co-Coach of the Year accolades.

Further successes of the 2007-08 season include the team’sNCAAstatisticalchampionship inthree-pointfield goal percentage, the team’s 13-game winningstreak late in the season, a 15-2 home record and the team’s finest defensive performance in 14 seasonswhen thePhoenixheldNorthernArizona to just27points on Dec. 15. For his career, Bollant boasts an im-pressive 249-52 record in eight seasons as a collegiate head coach for a stellar .827 winning percentage.

BollantarrivedinTitletownfollowingfiveseasonsatBryan(Tenn.)College.Inhisfiveseasonsasthepro-gram’s mentor, Bollant posted a 134-36 record (.788 winning percentage) with the Lady Lions at the NAIA level.

Under Bollant’s watch, Bryan made NAIA nationaltournament appearances in each of the last four sea-sons. The team advanced as far as the Sweet 16 in 2005-06witha26-8record.DuringhisfirstcampaignwithBryanin2002-03,Bollantguidedthesquadtoateam-record29winswhileappearingintheNationalChristian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) na-tionaltournament.

Nostrangertothenationalpollsinhisownright,Bol-lantguidedtheLadyLionstotheNAIAtop25nationalrankings four straight years, peaking at No. 11 at the end of the 2006-07 season.

Along the way, Bollant mentored four Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year honorees infiveyears:BrittanySwanson(2006and2007)andLizBass (2003 and 2004).

Bollantalsoinstilledtheimportanceofacademicsuc-cess at Bryan. His teams posted an overall grade point averageof3.1orhigherallfiveseasons,with40per-cent of his players earning academic all-conference honors.

Also of note, Bollant served as the chair for the NCCAAMideastRegionfrom2004-07.Prior to his appointment at Bryan, Bollant served as an assistant coach for former Green Bay women’s

basketballstandoutKathiBennettatIndianaUniver-sity for two seasons and at the University of Evansville for three years. Bennett is the daughter of formerGreenBaymen’sbasketballcoachDickBennett.

Bollant and Indiana made back-to-back postseason appearances with the team’s trip to the NCAA tourna-mentin2002andtheWNITin2001.The2002squadwontheBigTentournamentfortheonlytimeinIn-diana history.

AsanassistantforBennettatEvansville,Bollantaidedhis mentor in turning the Purple Aces program from a struggling one into a conference champion. AfterjustsixvictoriesandoneMissouriValleyConferencewin in 1997-98, Evansville rallied to claim theMVCtournamenttitlethefollowingyearandmakeitsfirst-ever NCAA tournament appearance. Evansville then wentontogo23-7in1999-00,settingaschoolrecordfor victories and making a trip to the WNIT. In that season, Bollant assisted the Aces in a 72-50 win over Green Bay in Evansville.

Bollant got his head coaching start at Tigerton (Wis.) High School, where he led the Tigers to an impressive 63-10 record over three years, including a 22-1 mark during the 1996-97 campaign. His teams won Central Wisconsin Conference-Small School titles each ofthose three seasons.

at North Dakota State, 11/11/11:• The Phoenix tipped off regular season play ranked in a

national poll for the first time in program history. Green Bay ranked No. 24 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

• Senior Julie Wojta became the 29th member to join the 1,000-piont club as she poured in a game high 21 points while grabbing a game high 11 rebounds.

• Green Bay shot an impressive 69 percent from the field in the second half of play.

• All five started scored in double digits.• NDSU opened the second half with a 12-2 run before

cutting Green Bay’s lead to six with 15:39 to play.• In the second half the Phoenix scored 26 points in the

paint compared to the Bison’s eight.• After a few Phoenix players got into early foul trouble,

Stephanie Sension came off the bench and scored eight points, going 4-for-5 from the field throughout 11 min-utes of play.

• The game was the 25th consecutive season Green Bay has opened regular season play on the road.

vs. Toledo, 11/16/11:• Prior to the contest, Green Bay unveiled its NCAA

Tournament Sweet 16 banner and Horizon League Regular Season and Tournament Championship banner.

• Green Bay shot 63 percent before finishing the game shooting 60 percent from the field in the 16-point victory.

• Senior Hannah Quilling matched a career high 14 points while junior Adrian Ritchie led all players with a career high eight rebounds.

• After Toledo led 13-10 early in the contest, Green Bay went on a 21-5 run that spanned throughout six minutes in the first half featuring 10 points from Wojta.

• Toledo went on a 10-2 run before the Phoenix built its lead to as many as 14 in the first half thanks to a three pointer from Megan Lukan at the buzzer, carrying Green Bay’s momentum into the second half.

• Bollant credited Lukan for coming off the bench and sparking the Phoenix. The redshirt freshman sank two threes and scored six of her eight points in the first half before finishing with a game high five assists.

vs. Eastern Michigan, 11/18/11:• Green Bay’s win extended its regular season winning

streak to 23 games which is tied for the second longest streak in program history.

• After the Phoenix broke an early full court press from the Eagles, it sparked a 15-0 run while holding EMU scoreless for nearly five minutes.

• Green Bay held EMU’s Tavelyn James scoreless until the 10:23 mark in the first half. James entered the contest averaging 37 ppg.

• Julie Wojta sank her 20th point of the contest wtih 2:52 to play in the first half before finishing with 23.

• Adrian Ritchie and Wojta combined for 35 points in the first half of play, building Green Bay’s lead to 50-22 at the break.

• Green Bay struggled defensively. After holding EMU to 22 points in the first half, the Phoenix gave up 31 in the second half. “We just didn’t defend the way I know we can. We need to play tough defense whether we are up by 30 or down by 30 and we didn’t do that,” said head coach Matt Bollant after the game.

at Wisconsin, 12/23/11:• Green Bay struggled to get its offense going as Wisconsin

led by as many as six in the early going before the Phoe-nix took its first lead of the contest with 6:20 to play in the first half thanks to a steal and bucket by Lydia Bauer, giving Green Bay the 19-18 edge over the Badgers.

• The win was the seventh consecutive vicotory over a Big Ten opponent.

• With the win, Green Bay closed nonconference play with a perfect 10-0 record for the second time in three seasons.

• For the third time this season, Green Bay trailed at the half.

• Wojta sparked a 12-4 run early in the second half sinking her lone three pointer of the contest.

• Wojta finished the game with a career-high 29 points.• Green Bay’s defense held the Badgers to just 15 points

ers with its 80-63 win over UIC.• The win was the 31st consecutive regular season victory

for Green Bay and 27th consecutive regular season win over a Horizon League opponent.

• Junior Sarah Eichler scored eight consecutive points early in the second half while finishing with a career-high 19 points in the contest.

• After scoring just two points in the first half of play, Julie Wojta posted her sixth double double of the sea-son finishing with 14 points while tying a career-high 15 rebounds.

• Adrian Ritchie had a career-high three blocks while scor-ing 18 points and grabbing six rebounds.

• Megan Lukan started the second half in place of Lydia Bauer who was battling the flu.

• After the game head coach Matt Bollant said, “we won the game because we scored more points, we were not the tougher team tonight and that’s something we pride ourselves on, being the toughest team.”

vs. Loyola, 12/31/11:• Green Bay used its defense to close the 2011 calendar

year with an impressive 34-1 record. It was the second time under Bollant and second time in program history Green Bay had just one loss in a calendar year (2009, 32-1)

• After Loyola took a 10-8 lead in the first half, the Phoe-nix regained the one-point advantage (11-10) with a three from Bauer with 12:05 remaining, sparking a 14-0 run by Green Bay.

• Green Bay scored 27 of its 45 first half points off Loyola’s 19 turnovers.

• Wojta led all scorers with 15 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

• Eichler scored in double digits for the third consecutive game finishing with 12 points.

• The win was Green Bay’s 32 consecutive regular season win and 28th consecutive regular season win against a conference opponent.
