The season of Lent is a special time of grace, inviting and enabling all of us to deepen our
relationship with Jesus and to embrace a life of meaning and purpose. To assist us, in
addition to our normal Saturday afternoon confession time,
Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace and most Catholic parishes in the
Diocese of Scranton will be open on Lenten Mondays from 5:30-7:00pm.
Please participate in this opportunity to make a good Lenten confession, and please also
reach out to the Catholics you know who have been away from the regular practice of the faith and invite them to participate in this
chance to begin again.
All the faithful of the Diocese are invited to attend the Chrism Mass at the
Cathedral of Saint Peter, Scranton, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 4:00p.m.
At this Mass priests from throughout the Diocese will renew their priestly promises
before the Bishop, and the oils to be used for the sacraments of Baptism, Conformation,
Anointing of the Sick and Holy Orders will be blessed. Participation in the Chrism
Mass is a beautiful way to pray for and support the Priests of the Diocese.
For reserved seating please call Diane Franklin office for Parish Life

DIVINE MERCY DEVOTION The Works of Mercy
God expects us to let His mercy flow through us to others. His words to St. Fausti-na are unmistakably clear. “I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and every-where.” (Diary, 742). The Church teaches us to be merciful in various ways:
The Corporal Works of Mercy Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, comfort the im-prisoned, visit the sick, and bury the dead.
The Spiritual Works of Mercy Admonish sinners, instruct the uninformed, counsel the doubtful, comfort the sorrowful, be patient with those in error, forgive offenses, pray for the living and the dead. © 1994 Marian Helpers
The Novena of Divine Mercy will begin on Good Friday, March 30. Brochures describing
the Divine Mercy Devotion are available at the doors of our churches. On Sunday, April 8, at 2pm, there will be a special Mercy Sunday Liturgy which will fulfill the Sunday Mass
obligation. Everyone is invited to attend.
