In 2 Corinthians 4:13, the Apostle Paul endorsed our use of affirmations as Christians by

showing us how King David used affirmations.

"And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak."

Tap into the power of speaking God’s Word. What you believe and say matter in every

area of your life. Affirmations help you nourish your spirit and keep your focus on God’s

love for you instead of on your problems. They also help you to consistently maintain a

confident expectation of good. Your words can bless your future when they are based on

God’s Word.

Creating personal affirmations based on scripture is a way of declaring and affirming

confidence in a belief you have and a vision you hold of what God has promised you in

His Word.

Here are some important tips to remember as you speak affirmations:

• Craft your own affirmations by using a concordance to find scriptures that give a

promise related to the challenge you’re facing. A good resource for a concordance

is www.BlueLetterBible.org. You can do a keyword search and use multiple Bible

translations. It’s very user-friendly.

• Write the affirmations in a journal, using active rather than passive words.Use

words that have emotion attached to them. Experience them as if they are already

true.

• Speak the affirmations in first person. In other words, insert “I,” “me,” or your

name in it.

• Speak your affirmations using present tense words rather than future tense (2

Corinthians 6:2). Speak them as “I am” statements, because Jesus has already

finished the work necessary for you to have open access to the blessings you

desire.

• Be consistent in saying them frequently. Repetition is key.

• Let what you say reflect your belief (or maybe begin to build it) that Jesus’

finished work on the cross has already restored you from barrenness to fruitfulness.

Your Benefits of Affirming God’s Promises:

• The more you say the affirmations, the more you’re creating a stronger belief

within you (Romans 10:17). This will also help you to increasingly have positive

thoughts and a larger degree of hope because you’re essentially re-programming

yourself with God’s life-filled promises and reducing the negative thinking and

speaking (Philippians 4:8).

• Every time you read or listen to an affirmation, it becomes a stronger force in your

life because your brain is actually developing new neural pathways associated with

your Bible-based affirmations.

• Verbal affirmations are beneficial in a lot of ways. One of the most important

benefits of affirmations based on Scripture is that they help to restore and /or build

your confidence in God’s Truth and His plan for your life.

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” ~ Joshua 1:8 (NIV)
