    2014-15 WASHINGTON STATE ROSTER

    COUGARS HOST ROADRUNNERS SATURDAY: Wash-

ington State University mens basketball (3-4) looks to

reach .500 for the season as it hosts UTSA (3-3) in non-

conference action, Saturday, Dec. 6 at noon.

Saturdays game will be televised on Pac-12 Networks

as Kevin Calabro (Play-by-Play) and Dan Dickau (Color

    Analyst) have the call.

Following Saturdays game, the Cougars will hit the

road for two-straight games away from Pullman.

Next up is WSUs rst ranked opponent of the sea-

son, No. 9/8 Gonzaga, Wednesday, Dec. 10 at SpokaneArena at 8 p.m.

Following that game, the Cougars head to Santa Clara,

Calif. to take on Santa Clara, Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.

ERNIE KENT ENTERS FIRST SEASON WITH THE COU-

    GARS:

Veteran head coach and former Fox Sports and Pac-

12 Networks basketball analyst was named the 18th

head coach in WSU mens basketball history, March 31,

2014, replacing Ken Bone, who served as the Cougar

    head coach for ve seasons.

Kent came to Pullman with a 325-254 (.561) mark

as a head coach, having spent six seasons at the

helm for Saint Marys in Moraga, Calif., and 13 at

Oregon. In his 13 years at Oregon, Kent compiled a 235-174

    (.575) record and a 109-125 (.466) conference mark.

His 109 conference wins rank 17th most in Pac-12

history (including Pacic-8 and Pacic-10 Confer-

    ences).

While at Oregon, Kent led the Ducks to seven

    postseason appearances, including ve NCAA

    Tournament Appearances (2000, 2002, 2003, 2007,

    2008) as well as a Pac-10 regular-season (2002)

and two conference tournament (2003, 2007) titles.

    COUGARS VERSUS ROADRUNNERS:

Saturday marks just the second all-time meeting

    between Washington State and UTSA.

WSU won the only other meeting, 67-44, Nov. 17,2006 at Pullman.

UTSA is the third WSU opponent from Conference

USA this season, as WSU fell at UTEP, Nov. 14 and

defeated Rice at the Great Alaska Shootout, Nov.

    28.

    TEXAS...FOUR STEP:

Saturdays game is Washington States fourth game

this season against an opponent from the state of Tex-

as, marking the most games against Texas schools in a

single-season in WSU mens basketball history.

The Cougars lost at TCU and UTEP to start the season

and defeated Rice at the Great Alaska Shootout.

WSU previously played three Texas schools in a sea-

son three different times - 2013-14 (Lamar, TCU, UTEP),

    2002 (Prairie View A&M, Texas, Texas-Pan American)

and 1995 (Texas, UTEP, Texas Tech). With four opponents from the state, Texas holds the

second-most WSU opponents this season by a single-

state, only second to California with eight (UC Santa

Barbara, Santa Clara, San Jose State, UC Davis, Stan-

    ford, California, USC, UCLA).

    ROAD WARRIORS:

WSU opened up with a two-game road trip in the

state of Texas, marking just the sixth time it has opened

the season with a true road game outside the state of

Washington and the rst time since Nov. 19, 1999, a 80-

    55 loss at Nevada.

Washington State was the only Pac-12 school to open

the 2014-15 season on the road.

In fact, in the rst two weeks of the season (Friday,Nov. 14-Sun., Nov. 22), just ve true road games were

played by Pac-12 schools, two of those were WSUs

    games.

The ve road games dont include the seven neutral-

    site games.

The Cougars had already played two road games be-

fore any other Pac-12 school had played on the road or

    at a neutral-site venue.

Five of WSUs rst six games are away from Pullman,

including three games at the Great Alaska Shootout,

    Nov. 27-29.

    ABOUT THE COUGARS:

The Cougars are currently 3-4 after falling to cross-

border rival Idaho, Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Beasley Coli-seum.

WSU is 0-2 on the road, 2-1 at neutral sites and 1-1

    at home.

Last season WSU nished 10-21 overall and 3-15 in

    Pac-12 play, nishing 11th.

Nine letterwinners returned for the Cougs, including

three starters in seniors DaVont Lacy, Dexter Kernich-

    Drew and Jordan Railey.

If Lacy were to average the same amount of points as

last season (19.4) and stays healthy and plays at least

31 games, he would nish his career with at least 1,624

points, which would put him fourth in WSUs record

    books.

If he sticks with his career average of 12.0 ppg, he will

nish with 1,395 points which would put him at 11th in

the WSU career record books. If Lacy stays at 16.7 ppg, he would nish with 1,540

points, which would put him at fth in WSUs record

    books.

Lacy is also climbing up the record books for career

3-pointers made and is on pace for the record, cur-

rently in sole possession of eighth place with 199 made

    3-pointers.

He is currently 3 away from Chris Crosby (1997-2000) in

    seventh place with 202.

Lacy is just 43 3-pointers away from tying Klay Thomp-

son for the school record...if he were to stay healthy

during his senior season, Lacy would need to average

just under 2 made 3-pointers per game to reach the re-

    cord.

    BLOCK PARTIES:

Junior Junior Longrus has moved onto WSUs career

list for blocked shots, currently ranked 20th with 47

    blocks in his career.

With a 0.7 career blocks per game average, Longrus

is on pace to nish with 85 blocked shots in his career,

which would put him at 12th on WSUs all-time list.

    HAWKINSONS TRANSFORMATION:

Sophomore Josh Hawkinson is averaging 14.9 points,

9.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in WSUs six

games this season...hes playing 31.3 minutes per out-

    ing.
