    1. Applications are invited from unmarried male Indian nationals possessing educational qualificationsand age, as prescribed below, for recruitment to the post of Navik (General Duty) in the Indian CoastGuard, an Armed Force of the Union. 2. Educational Qualification:- 10+2 with 60% marks aggregatein total and minimum 60% in each subject of Maths and Physics from an education board recognisedby Central/State Government. Qualifying percentage may be increased if more number of applicationsare received for a particular centre. Candidates from "Open Schools" not registered with the Govt.are not eligible. 3. Age. Born between 01 Aug 91 to 31 Jul 95. (Upper age relaxation of 5 years forSC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates). 4. How to apply:- (a) Applications will be accepted 'Onlineonly' from 14 to 23 Jan 13. Candidates are to logon to www.joincoastguard.org. The importantinstructions for filling of online application are:- (i) The name of the candidate, father/mother's nameand date of birth should be as given in the 10th class certificate. (ii) Indicate exact percentage of12th upto two decimals and this is not to be rounded off. (iii) Filling up of information like personalemail ID and Mobile number of the candidate are compulsory. The date, time and venue of the testand other information will be informed through personal email ID. (iv) The application provides twocentres for examination centre. The candidates are to choose first and second choice from the samezone only. First and second choice from different zones will be rejected. (b) To fill up "Online"application the candidates need to logon to the Website www.joincoastguard.org. Read the instructioncarefully and proceed as given below:- (i) Select the advertisement for Recruitment of Naviks (10+2Entry) 02/2013 Batch. (ii) Select the post applied for Navik General Duty. (iii) Click on the 'I Agree'button and the 'Online Application' will be displayed. (iv) Proceed to fill the application (All Star (*)marked entries are compulsory and to be filled) (v) On completion of filling application, click on theSubmit button. (vi) Filled form will be displayed. Verify the details filled in and then click on theSave button if all are correct. Otherwise click on the Edit button for correction and then submit andsave. (vii) After saving the form correctly the application with a Registration number will be provided

    to the candidate. The filled Application Form, with the number generated will be available to thecandidate to save and take a print. For candidates NOT meeting the eligibility criteria, a RejectionSlip, giving the cause of rejection with the Application Number will be displayed. (viii) Candidatesare required to print two copies of the application with number generated by the system. Both copiesof the print out of application duly signed with photograph are to be carried by the applicant to therecruitment centre. (ix) Out of the two copies one copy enclosed with photocopies of all requireddocuments i.e. class 10th certificate/mark sheet showing date of birth, 12th class certificate alongwith mark sheet subjects, caste certificate wherever required duly attested by the Gazzetted Officershall also be carried by the candidate and submitted at the recruitment centre. Second copy withoutany enclosure is to be kept with the candidate as an identity proof during the selection procedure.Any candidate who does not carry all these documents at the time of recruitment shall not bepermitted to appear in the exam. Note: - Filling of multiple applications will result in cancellation ofall application. 5. The recruitment zones /examination centres for different states are given below:-

    6. Selection Procedure:- The 'Online' Applications will be sorted out centre wise. The conduct oftest is planned during Mar/Apr 13. Date, time and venue of the recruitment will be intimated throughpersonal email ID/ by post in the month of Feb 13. Selection procedure is as follows:- (i) Short-listingcriteria will be based on higher percentage of marks for a particular examination centre. SC and STcandidates will be given due weightage while short listing. (ii) Cut off percentage of a particularcentre will be decided depending upon the number of applications received and the handlingcapacity of a particular centre. (iii) Those who qualify preliminary and final written tests will undergoPFT, interview and Medical Examination (Preliminary). The testing procedure will take 2-3 days. (iv)The written tests will be objective type. (v) The Physical Fitness: Test will be conducted for all thosewho pass the written tests. The PFT will consist as under:- * 1.6 Km run to be completed in 6 minutes30 seconds. * 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) * 10 Push ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so attheir own risk. (vi) Candidates who qualify the above tests will be required to undergo initial recruitment

    medical examination at the respective recruitment centres. (vii) The select list will be prepared the candidates who qualify in all the tests depending upon the available vacancies. The Zone select list of candidates will be displayed in the Indian Coast Guard Web

    www.indiancoastguard.nic.in in the month of Jul 13. It is clarified that select list will be zone wise not centre wise. (viii) Candidates who clear the final medical examination at INS Chilka will onlinducted in to the service. (ix) Shortlisted candidates through 'Online' application will be calledtest at given date and time. Candidates are required to appear at the venue with the followdocuments: (a) Two copies of pre-filled online application. (b) Original certificate of tenth classdate of birth verification. (c) Original mark sheet and certificates of 12th class. (d) Proof of idesuch as passport, driving license, voter I card, college ID card or any other photo identity proofCaste Certificate (if applicable) in original as per Govt of India format. (f) Ten recent colour passsize photographs. (g) Character certificate (issued six months prior to exam/interview). Selectiocandidates is based on the order of merit depending on their performance in Written Test, PhyFitness Test (PFT) and fitness in the Medical Examination. 7. Medical Standards: (i) Minimheight 157 cms. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will baccordance with the Central Govt. orders. (ii) Chest: Should be well proportioned. Minimum expan5 cms. (iii) Weight: Proportionate to height and age +_10% acceptable. Hearing: normal.Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standprescribed in current regulations applicable to Enrolled Personnel on entry. *Candidates are advto get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination. (v) VisStandards: 6/6 (Better Eye) and 6/9(Worse Eye) (Candidates using glasses are not eligible) NCandidates with above broad medical standards are only to appear for the selection. No waivebe given for the above standards. The Coast Guard order on medical standards of the Naviks wilthe final authority in case of dispute. Applicants declared permanent medically unfit by any ArForces Hospital in previous recruitment for the same entry in Coast Guard are advised not to ap8. Final Enrolment Medical Examination:- All select list candidates who are issued with a call lfor Final Medical Examination will have to undergo Final Enrolment Medical Examination at

    Chilka prior to enrolment. Candidates found 'unfit' during this medical examination will noenrolled for training. No 'appeal' is permitted for review after the final enrolment medical examinaat INS Chilka. Medically unfit candidates will be returned home at their own expense. 9. TraininThe basic training will commence in Aug 2013 at INS Chilka followed by sea training and professitraining in the allotted trade. Branch/trade will be allocated as per the requirement of service performance during basic training. Naviks are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE duunsatisfactory performance at any time during the training. 10. General Guidelines:- (a) Candidwithdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any other service training establishments are not eligibappear. (b) Candidates should not have been arrested, convicted or prosecuted on criminal char(c) Original certificates should not be attached with the application form. Indian Coast Guard wiltake responsibility for loss of original certificates, if attached with application. Photo shoulpasted and not stapled. Attestation made on the backside of the photo will not be entertainedRequest for change of examination centre/date will not be entertained. (e) Use of Mobile phonesnot be permitted during examination. (f) Candidates are required to carry ten recent colored passsize photographs. (g) All original certificates and mark sheets are to be produced for verificatiothe time of written test. (h) The candidate's selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid forbatch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final select list cannot cadmission for the next batch. These candidates will have to undergo the selection procedure afrprovided that they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh batch. (j) Applications received by postnot be accepted. (k) Call letter for final medical examination for enrolment in the Coast Guardbe forwarded only to initial medically qualified candidates in the select list. Such candidates wirequired to reach the training establishment at their own expense. Unsuccessful candidates willbe intimated separately. (l) The application will be further scrutinised for eligibility prior to enrolmand may be rejected if found not eligible in any respect. (m) No enquiry will be entertaregarding recruitment/enrolment after a period of six months. Note: Attesting Officer's name office address and seal should be clearly legible. 11. Promotion:- Promotion prospects exist uptorank of Pradhan Adhikari with pay scale 9300-34800 plus Grade pay @ Rs. 4800/-.Promotion toofficer cadre is subject to suitability and performance. 12. Ex-servicemen means a person who has served inrank (whether as a combatant or as a non-combatant) in the Regular Army, Navy and Air Force oIndian Union but does not include a person who has served in the Defence Security CorpsGeneral Reserve Engineering Force, the Lok Sahayak Sena and the paramilitary forces; and a) has retired from such service after earning his/her pension; this would also include persons whoreleased/retired at their own request but after having earned their pensions or b) who has breleased from such service on medical grounds attributable to military service or circumstanbeyond his control and awarded medical or other disability pension; or c) who has been releaotherwise than on his own request, from such service as a result of reduction in establishment; o

    who has been released from such service after completing the specific period of engagemotherwise than at his own request or by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduinefficiency, and has been given a gratuity, and includes personnel of the Territorial Army, offollowing categories, namely:- (i) pension holders for continuous embodied services; (ii) Gallaaward winners.
