Ms. Nawal, Abu Dhabi, UAE Gender Equality workshop participant
Ms. Niambi Jarvis, Office of Women's Policy and Initiatives, Washington DC, USAGender Equality workshop participant
“Doing the gender equality training exercise gave us a good view on where our government
stands on the practice and it created a better understanding of the best practices regarding gender equality. In addition to that, it helped us to find the
practices that need some improvements, and gave us an
idea on how to reach the highest standards in those practices”
“(the CityShare self-assessment) framework enabled me to pinpoint
quickly and precisely what the issues are”

e-Learning
e-Learning by its very nature, is learning ‘anytime, anywhere, by anyone’ – thus it goes ‘beyond borders.’
e-Learning eliminates borders in terms of:
geographic locationtime zonescheduling requirementspace of studycost constraintstravel limitations
But also:
Institutions implementing cost-cutting measures can benefit from cost-effective training through e-Learning.
Institutions dealing with an accelerated pace of change may require more employees to gain skills faster than ever before, and an e-Learning solution can accomplish that.
2. Break barriers to training / capacity development
252. Break barriers to training / capacity development
Face2face
Overcoming constraints: local needs/local solutions
Limited exposure: draw from global experience “expand the universe”
Abstract knowledge: draw from the concrete experiences provided by international partners and similar cities
Top-down approach: take a bottom-up approach based on defined local needs
Inputs-outputs: outcomes and impact measurement
Limited to expanded network
263. Making content accessible
