Why Talk About Plankton?

• they are a HUGE part of sustaining life on earth and a MASSIVE part of marine ecosystems. We all survive off of plankton even though they are incredibly small and we don’t often think of them.

• IF ALL PLANKTON DIED IT WOULD NOT BE LONG UNTIL ALL LIFE ON EARTH DIED TOO!

answer questions – Second diagram plankton into their specific

groups!

End of the day summary

• In your group discuss and write down the biggest differences you see between phytoplankton and zooplankton

• Would you rather be a plankton or a swimming marine animal? What are some advantages to being a plankton?
