We are very excited to welcome our new families to Warragul North Primary School and in particular our Foundation classes who are commencing their primary school education!

The Foundation children had a wonderful first day of school. We remind parents that Foundation children will not attend school on Wednesdays until Wednesday 12th March, 2014.

Reminder to ParentsWhen your child is ready please:

• Let them carry their own bag and walk in to school by themselves.

• Let them dress themselves and put their shoes on.

• Bring their own money and messages to the teacher.

Please do not wait in or near the classroom as children settle more quickly when they know you have gone.

The photos below show Foundation students arriving for their first day of school accompanied by their parents. All Foundation students had a great first day.

MATHS ONLINE

Online Mathematics resource for all students

Maths Online is Australia's leading computer-based training program designed to complement what your child is being taught in class.

This program offers all students from Prep to Year Twelve the opportunity to develop and practise their mathematical skills through online tutorials. All lessons are based on the Australian Curriculum.

Maths Online is deigned to support teachers, students and parents. It helps guide students through lessons, allowing them to pause, rewind and repeat all or part of any lesson until they fully understand. The tutorials are presented using visual and audio animation. Maths Online allows teachers to set learning tasks based on topics being covered within the grade and receive up-to-date feedback on student progress.

The Maths Online program also offers interactive features where students can practice their times tables and develop their speedy number facts. It also provides our students with a wonderful opportunity to gain extra support or extension.

Again this year, the staff of Warragul North Primary School will be using Maths Online as an integral part of their Mathematic Program.

A reminder to all parents, that Maths Online is still available to all students who purchased this online resource during 2013.

New passwords for the current 2014 year (running from late February 2014 to February 2015) will be issued within the next few weeks after payment ($20.00) for 2014 has been received.

Mellisa Manuel, ICT Co-ordinator

PARKING / TRAFFIC FLOW / DISABLED PARKINGTo assist parents with parking rules around the school, a map explaining legal parking areas and traffic f low was sent home last week.

Please be aware that ‘reserved’ parking areas are for staff use only.

If everyone adheres to the agreed parking areas and direction of traffic f low it creates a safer environment for children during drop off and pick up times.

Just a friendly reminder that the disabled parking space provided outside the administration building is for people with a disabled parking permit only. It is also requested that you be mindful of other people who use this space and not double park across it. There has been reported instances of the space being regularly blocked not allowing access or allowing the vehicle parked to exit. Please do not park across this specially designated car space.

Thank you.

PRIVATE MUSIC PROGRAM 2014This year there are private music lessons available for the following instruments:

guitar, bass guitar, violin, saxophone, clarinet, trombone, drums, cello, trumpet, f lute, piano and ukulele. Singing lessons are also available.

If you are interested in your child having singing lessons or learning one of these instruments, please complete a ‘Request for Lessons’ form at the school office.

Children need to be in either summer or winter uniform, not a combination of both eg: summer dress over pants or leggings. (Please note that leggings are not part of our uniform).
