11TH GRADE ENGLISH

Our main purpose in reading together is to learn about the characteristics of memoir through literature. We should keep notes in our notebooks about the stories we hear and read and write a short summary and response to each. That way we can refer back to these note for other activities and tasks.

Unit 11.1: Memoir – My Point of View

The teacher will read a story out loud first for enjoyment and discussion. Then he will read it again while the students pay attention to and discuss the choices the author makes about words, transitions, syntax and how this effects the message the author is trying to send us.

We’ll be working in small groups to analyze the excerpts from multiple memoirs. These activities will be graded.
