TASK: The main purpose of public libraries is to provide books, and they shouldn't waste their limited resources and space on providing expensive hi- tech media such as computer software, videos and DVDs. Do you agree? I/ To my own way of thinking, libraries should provide not only books but also others kinds of hi- tech media since it is a good occasion for readers to get information more effectively and conveniently as well as to feel less bored. Good thesis statement! The first reason for my argument is that offering high-priced technological media provides better conditions to seek information effectively and conveniently. Books are not only an approach to obtain news. Moreover, hi-tech media provides others sources of information such as internet, DVDS, radios, ect. Readers have chances to use more than two tasks, two tools once at a time. They can synthesize, analyze and compare information. → Finding data through modern media can be very quickly, diversely.

TASK: The main purpose of public libraries is to provide books, and they shouldn't waste their limited resources and space on providing expensive hi-tech media such as computer software, videos and DVDs. Do you agree?

I/ To my own way of thinking, libraries should provide not only books but also others kinds of hi-tech media since it is a good occasion for readers to get information more effectively and conveniently as well as to feel less bored.

→ It is more effective and convenient. III/ The benefits of making readers feel less dull offered by hi-tech media is another supporting idea for my viewpoint.

Spending an hour reading books can be bored.

Supplying many methods of learning such as studying English by songs, videos, films, modern media makes learners feel relaxed, less stress and more interested.

IV/ It is common belief that the more expensive hi-tech media libraries hold, the less space they have.

In fact, the size of a normal book is bigger than that of a tape, DVD or CD, therefore the space for one book such as “Cambridge Ielst 4” can be equal with that of 4 or 5 common DVD Disks.

In addition, the less or more capacity not only depends on the shape of such technological media but it also relies on the way of display. It will be alright if the staffs of these libraries know how to exhibit reasonably and methodically to make use up space.

Very good counter-argument idea and refutation!

V/ To sum up, libraries should provide costly technological media because of its enormous advantages: seeking data sufficiently and conveniently as well as helping learners feel less dull. However, every thing has two sides of a coin. Modern media also brings about some drawbacks. Therefore, it is important for learners to choose reliable source of information and avoid others disturbing data.

Excellent!
