Conversion and Confession are year-round

experiences; use the following as a regular daily

prayer. Fr. Lupa

An Act of Contrition Loving and merciful God, forgive me for the times when I have strayed from you like a wayward sheep from its shepherd. For the times I thought I could get along without you, I am sorry. For the other times I have been seduced by the false idols this world has to offer, I am sorry. For the times I have failed to recog-nize you in the least of my brothers and sisters, I am sorry. For the times when I have hurt those closest to me through my selfishness, I am sorry. Lord, in your goodness remember not that I have sinned but that I am your beloved child; help me always to walk the path of love. Amen. Nancy Bevenga

3. Quinoa - Another whole-grain option (see the list-ing for barley for more), quinoa is catching on as an alternative to refined grains and other mealtime "starch" choices. Remember to rinse it well before cooking. 34. Romaine lettuce - This salad staple counts toward your daily goal of eating more leafy greens, and deliv-ers vitamin A and C along with a tasty crunch. Bos-ton, Bibb and red or green leaf lettuces are other good salad choices (easy on the fatty dressings!), though not as vitamin packed. Iceberg lettuce has only a frac-tion of the nutritional value of its greener, darker kin.

Father’s NotesFather’s NotesFather’s NotesFather’s Notes Gossip When does injury to another person by true gossip

become sinful? If the information is strictly true and

has taken place, where is the injury?

In my experience as a priest, no sin of speech is more destructive to our social relationships than the one you mention - and the feeling that simply because a thing is true about someone else, we are free to say whatever we like about it, whenever we like, and to whomever we like. One who thinks and acts this way is grossly in error. When the topic of our loose gossip is true, we’re dealing with the sin of detraction & insult. To lie about others, attributing to them faults and bad actions we know are untrue, is even worse, a sin of calumny or slander. One commits the sin of de-traction when he makes known the faults of another without a very good reason for doing so. It can be a serious moral offense if it does great harm to that other person’s reputation by having his other faults spread about when they otherwise would not be. The same sin is committed when the other person is refused ordinary decency & respect, whether face to face in private, or in public. Even when the other person’s faults are public knowledge, it can be a sin against charity to speak unnecessarily about those faults. Occasionally there may be good reasons to tell an-other’s faults. It is wrong, though, to imagine that just because a story about another is true, one is at liberty to spread it around. A person’s good name is among his most precious possessions, and the fact that one gets a kick out of being always there with the latest tidbit is no justification for tarnishing that good name. A person’s faults are a matter between himself and God. The rest of us should keep our noses out. Scripture has many strong condemning words for gossips. In Ps. 101: “The slanderer of his neighbor in secret - him will I destroy.” St. Paul recognized the poisonous effect of this kind of conversation. His advice to Titus is still valid: “Tell them not to speak evil of anyone.” This means in blunt language: “If you can’t say something good about someone, keep quiet.” From Catholic Q & A by Fr. John J. Dietzen

Religious Education Kathy Nichols, Coordinator - 656-9546 Sundays 8:45 - 10:00 am Class - March 13, 20 Seder Meal, March 13 Youth Mass, March 20, Palm Sunday. No Class March 27, Easter Sunday - Egg Hunt!

Dear friends, When I was a teenager in North Georgia, every Sunday dinner was eaten in the dining room, and it was always chicken for some reason. (I think that is a southern thing!) After dinner, as my mother cleared the table and my sister drifted off to find a good book, my brother and my Dad would begin a deep philosophical discussion on some topic like morality. I enjoyed listening for a while but it would get so deep that my teenage self would loose interest. Fast-forward 40 years and guess what our next class is in the Formation for Ministry program? Christian Morality! I admit I was skeptical at first. I suppose it is because I am an adult now, but I am finding it fascinating!! It’s still deep, but the teacher, Father Galuppi from Our Lady of Good Counsel, is easy to understand and encourages great conversation with our new friends from the surrounding churches; folks just like you and me. We are all just trying to recognize the amazing gift of God’s loving presence in our lives, and figure out how to respond to that love. We’ve learned in our class so far that this is what Christian Morality is all about! I am going to share with you in the coming weeks what we are learning. These classes are open to anyone in the parish! You don’t need to have an end goal in sight, or know a specific ministry you would like to be involved in; just a desire to learn more about your faith. Please consider this golden opportunity in our Diocese. There are pamphlets in the vestibule, and you can talk to Joe Trepa, Bonnie Norton, Chris Wentlent or myself if you have questions. The parish dinner last week was fantastic! The Knights of Columbus are an amazing group of men! Their roast pork dinner was delicious. The Parish Council members greeted everyone, Donna Heisler and Stephanie Watson decorated the tables, Edilu Hunt coordinated the hall preparation, Jess & Jim Trepa and family made sure the clean up went smooth and Claire Gibbons from the social committee secured the Irish Step Dancing entertainment that was so much fun to see. Thank you all for making this welcome dinner successful. Msgr. Putano said that this was what parish life is all about! Thanks for making ICC an Amazing Parish. Peace! ~ Mary Wentlent
