Methods: Two-dimensional echocardiography(2DE) was performed tomeasure peak systolic LS and RS in 60 healthy subjects and 90 patientswith MI by using STI. 2DE images with high frame rate were recordedfrom the left ventricular short-axis views at the levels of mitral annu-lus,papillary muscle and apex, and from the apical two-, three- andfour-chamber views. And LS was measured in the apical long-axisviews and RS in the left ventricular short-axis views respectively byusing two-dimensional strain software. Results: There were notably differences between normal and infarctedsegments for peak systolic LS (P0.01) and RS (P0.01), respec-tively. The accuracy for the indentification of the infarcted segments issimilar either by LS or RS (P0.05).Conclusions: Speckle tracking imaging is able to quantitatively assessmyocardial systolic function, and peak systolic LS and RS are equal inthe indentification of the infarcted segments. Keywords: Speckle tracking imaging; Longitudinal strain; Radialstrain; Myocardial infarction

An Early Incipient and Novel Bidirectional Alteration ofMyocardial Function in Coronary Artery Stenosis: QuantitativeAssessment of Myocardial Regional Function with VaryingIschemic Severity by Velocity Vector ImagingXiaoling Liu, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling andFunction Research, Chinese Ministry of Education and ChineseMinistry of Pu, ChinaMin Feng, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling andFunction Research, Chinese Ministry of Education and ChineseMinistry of Public, ChinaLiang Chen, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling andFunction Research, Chinese Ministry of Education and ChineseMinistry of PublicJifu Li, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling and FunctionResearch, Chinese Ministry of Education and Chinese Ministry ofPublicYun Zhang, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling andFunction Research, Chinese Ministry of Education and ChineseMinistry of PublicMei Zhang, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling andFunction Research, Chinese Ministry of Education and ChineseMinistry of Public
Objective: To determine the alterations of myocardial regional func-tion with varying ischemic severity using velocity vector imaging. Methods: 2-D images of apical 4-chamber, 2-chamber and long-axis views were obtained in 50 patients with coronary artery disease.Myocardial segments were divided into 5 groups on the basis ofcoronary artery stenosis: normal, normal coronary artery; grade 1,stenosis 50%; grade 2, stenosis 50%-74%; grade 3, stenosis 75%-99%; and grade 4, occluded artery. We analyzed the segments’systolic velocity (VS), strain (S) and strain rate (SRS); early dia-stolic velocity (VE) and strain rate (SRE); late diastolic velocity(VA) and strain rate (SRA); and ratio of VE to VA (VE/VA) andSRE to SRA (SRE/SRA).Results: Compared with normal group, VS, VE, SRE and SRE/SRAdecreased even with 50% stenosis; S, SRS and VE/VA decreasedwith 50% stenosis, and VA decreased with 75% stenosis. More-over, a novel bidirectional change was shown among groups: S, SRSand SRA with grade 2 stenosis were lower than those with grade 1stenosis (P 0.05, P 0.001 and P 0.05, respectively), whereas
S, SRS and SRE with grade 3 stenosis were higher than those withgrade 2 stenosis (P 0.05). Grade 4 group showed the worstfunction. Conclusions: In patients with coronary artery disease, incipient myo-cardial dysfunction occurs with coronary artery stenosis 50%, andregional function shows a bidirectional alteration during ischemia, which can have implications for treatment.

Relationships Between Mitral Annulus Movement Velocities andPulmonary Venous Flow Velocity of Atrial Reversal in thePatients with Left Ventricular Diastolic DysfunctionYi-lin Liu, Liaocheng People’s Hospital, China
Objectives: To explore the relationships between mitral annulus move-ment velocities(E,A) and pulmonary venous flow velocity of atrialreversal (AR) in the patients with left ventricular diastolic dysfunction-(LVDDF).Methods: The E,A,E/A,E’,A’,E’/A’,E/E’ and AR was recorded bytissue Doppler imaging and pulsed Doppler echocardiography in 320patients with normal left ventricular diastolic function (LVDF) or grade1(including1a and 1b) or 2 or 3 LVDDF, and then, the relationshipsbetween the E’/A’, E/E’ and AR were studied. Results: The E’/A’1 or 1, the E/E’ was 7.33.3(413.7) innormal LVDF.With the gradual increasing of AR,the E’/A’ decreasedgradually in grade 1 and 2 LVDDF ,and increased gradually in grade 3,however the E’/A’ still1.and the E/E’ increased gradually and it was11.21.8(7.716.3) in grade 1a , 13.22.3 (9.720.3) in grade 1b,21.65.5(13.535.2) in grade 2and 3.Conclusions: (1)The parameters, E/A1 and E’/A’1, are not helpfulin diagnosing grade 2 LVDDF unless combined with other parameter.(2)The E/E’ 15 can indicate LVDDF(being often more serious), andE/E’ 8 indicates normal LVDF, but 8E/E’ 15 indicates normalLVDF or early LVDDF.

Assessment of SIRS in the Ovine Fetus by EchocardiographyGuo-Rong Lv, the Second Affilicated Hospital of Fujian MedicalUmiversity, ChinaLi Tang, ChinaBo-Yi Li, the Second Affilicated Hospital of Fujian MedicalUmiversity, China
Objective: To study the changes of fetal hemodynamic in ovine fetusto systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS)and evaluate therelationship between hemodynamic and TNF- and IL-6.Methods: 17 late-gestation fetal sheep underwent cordocentesis oramniocentesis under ultrasound guidance. Echocardiography were per-formed in different time. Fetal blood samples were collected to measurefor TNF- and IL-6.Results: After LPS administration, the fetal plasma TNF- ,IL-6 leveland fetal UmA PI,RA PI,DV PI,MCA PI,LV, RV EF,LV, RV Teiindices,TV, MV E/A ratio significantly changed with time( P0.05),and still significantly increased as compared with the control animals(P0.05).There were significantly correlation between fetal hemody-namic values and TNF-, IL-6(P0.01).Conclusions: DV PI ,Tei index and TNF-,IL-6 level exhibits thestrongest relation in the peripheral vessels or in the cardiac functionvalues, respectively. Therefore, DV PI and Tei index might be easy and
useful quantitative parameters for assessing fetal SIRS.
