Bliss is proud to be offering Massage Services by Jan Ayres. Jan is a licensed massage therapist, a graduate of Forsyth Technical College as well as a professional insured member of AMBP. She has been practicing massage in Winston-Salem for 12 years at Ch-eveux Salon and Day Spa. She currently lives in Winston-Salem with her two sons Dylan 22 and Tate 9. She is also native of Surry County where she grew up in Dobson, NC. Jan is certified to prac-tice Swedish, Therapeutic, Pregnancy, Reflexology as well as Body Treatments.Jan chose massage because she had a strong desire to work in a
field where she could help others. She learned that massage was a prime healthcare modality option that provides a hands-on ap-proach to help relieve physical pain as well as emotional stress. She decided this was the job for her. Jan found her niche with massage especially in the ability to help with injury related problems as well as stress related issues that affect the whole body. Please help us in welcoming Jan back to her hometown as schedule you appoint-ment today. Jan will be available by appointment at Bliss Starting on June 11th, 2012. She will be available on Mondays from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.. Call today 336.526.2001 to schedule your service.
SHOPTalkHello! When you think of diamonds and romance, please think of Song’s Jewelry!I carefully and personally select every diamond and piece of jewelry in our store.
Each piece of jewelry has a story behind it, so just tell us about your occasion and the person who will be receiving your selection. We will help you find the perfect jewelry for that special person. We can help you care for your jewelry with advice from a Gemological Intuition

wear and tear. They may have lost a stone and think it will be expensive to repair. It does not cost anything for us to check your jewelry. Many times a piece can be made beautiful again with an inexpensive repair. We recommend that you have your jewelry professionally examined every six months. It was to show appre-ciation of their support of Chamber events such as the Wine Festival and the Dobson Fall Fest, for volunteer-ing your time at the Yadkin Valley Chamber- Dobson Division office, donating wine for various chamber functions and giveaways, and for be-ing an important player in the Very Surry Wine initiative that is playing a major role in advancing the tour-ism industry for the Yadkin Valley. Congratulations to Olde Mill Winery & Vineyards on being selected as our May 2012 Chamber Member of the Month.
Olde Mill Winery & Vineyards May Member of the Month
(LtoR) Chad Shore with Surry Community College Elkin Center, Jerry Stroud with Duke Energy, Tara Brown Owner of Olde Mill, Ethan Brown Owner & Wine Maker, Allison Swisher with Bayada Home Health, Jeanette Hendricks with HCMH Foundation & Casey Waddell with Fairfield Inn & Suites.
Olde Mill Winery’s Ethan Brown Honored for Academic AchievementsSurry Community College has recognized Ethan
Brown for outstanding academic, professional and per-sonal achievements with the SCC Academic Excellence Award. The recognition is in conjunction with a state-wide event next week celebrating “greatness” at North Carolina Community Colleges.
Brown participated in the “Great Within the 58” award ceremony and reception in Raleigh on April 19, where he was recognized along with recipients of the Academ-ic Excellence Award from other community colleges.
As recipient of the Academic Excellence Award, Brown has demonstrated outstanding performance in the classroom. Since enrolling in SCC classes as a high school junior, Brown has earned a 4.0 grade point aver-age each semester. Last fall he earned an Associate De-gree in Viticulture and Enology Technology and is now pursuing an Associate Degree in Science.
Brown has also excelled in extracurricular activities at SCC. He has served as a SCC student ambassador, as a graduation marshal, as president of the college’s chap-
ter of Phi Theta Kappa, and as president of the college’s Wine and Vine Club. Under Brown’s leadership, the Wine and Vine Club raised $1,000 to send two World War II veterans to Washington, DC through the Triad Flight of Honor. The club has also collected hundreds of pounds of food for donation to the Dobson Food Pantry.
The knowledge Brown has gained at SCC has already directly applied to his professional pursuits. Brown works as winemaker and vineyard manager of Olde Mill Vineyards near Dobson, where his wines have won several medals at regional and international competi-tions. He credits his success to the education, training and industry connections he received through SCC’s Viticulture and Enology Program. Research opportuni-ties facilitated by the college have provided Brown with hands-on experience in the industry as he prepares to further his education with a four-year degree.
“No matter where I continue my education, I know that the positive effects of Surry Community College will benefit me,” Brown said.

Dear Yadkin Valley Chamber Mem ber:I would like to introduce myself as your new account manager for 100.9 WIFM. My name
is Tammy Baity and I am a Yadkin County native. Having lived in the Yadkin Valley all my life, there is no other place I want to call home, and it is important to me that this area flourishes. I am grateful for folks like you who have made an investment in our area providing jobs and options for people to dine, shop, and receive the services they need. I am so excited to now be working with 100.9 WIFM to help you promote your business.
Since the inception of 100.9 WIFM in 1949, the music, the format and the programming have changed, but the commitment to providing excellent service to our advertisers remains the same. This is family and workplace friendly radio with the added ability to stream our broadcast over the Web. We are located in Surry County with a coverage area extending not only to the surrounding counties of Yadkin, Wilkes, Alleghany, and Stokes, but well into For-syth, Davie, Iredell, Alexander, Ashe counties, and beyond. With this excellent coverage area and thousands of dedicated listeners, I can help you stay ‘in touch’ with your current customers and reach new ones. I will work within your budget to help generate business by providing awareness of your location with exciting on air promotions and possible on location remotes as well. You can be reassured knowing that the dedicated team of professionals at 100.9 WIFM is here to support you 100%! We will help develop your advertisement from the ground up if that’s what you need. We will write the script, put in background music, and then provide a demo for you to approve before it goes to air. Simply stated, you can be completely confident that 100.9 WIFM is committed to providing the best schedule, promotion, and company spot-
light that advertising can produce! Please call me at 336.366.9345 or email tbaity@wifmra-

Your Personal ComPuter CoaChYou don’t have to know everything about your
computer in order to make the best use of it! Think of the hardware and the software as tools to make your digital life easier, fun, and more efficient.
Susan McBride at Computer Coach can help you do just that. Susan travels to homes and offices of in-dividuals and businesses to offer one-on-one com-puter training based on client needs.
After years of training students, teachers, and ad-ministrators, Susan believes that people learn best when they have a need to know. So, the training fo-cus is not on the software, but on what the client wants to accomplish. For example, few people need to know everything about Word or Publisher in order to create a greeting card. Likewise, no one needs to understand complicated formulas in Excel when you want to create a simple address book or a budget.
In addition to learning based on need, Susan also believes that learning takes place in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. When a client calls, Susan interviews them to find out exactly what they want to do with their computer or specific software. She then visits the client at home or at the office to provide personalized instruction on the client’s personal computer.
Susan can help a client add a printer/scanner, create folders, organize files, use email, efficiently surf the web, network a computer, edit photographs, create personal projects, set up a budget, add pictures to Facebook…and much more. The possibili-ties are endless and no question is too small!
Through Computer Coach, Susan provides friendly, personalized training on your computer in the comfort of your home or office. Right now, Computer Coach is of-fering 2 hours of training for the price of one. If you’d like to make the most of your computer, call Susan, and experience learning and practicing your computer skills with a certified Instructional Technologist by your side!
You can reach Susan at 336-406-2116 or 336-874-2006. Or email her at [email protected].

Elkin Creek Vineyard Under New OwnershipSill the site of an historic grist mill built in 1896, and
gracing a special spot where two creeks join together to become one, Elkin Creek Vineyards is a one-of-a-kind destination. Located an hour north of Charlotte, NC and only twenty minutes from the Virginia border, it is a hid-den gem in the heart of the Yadkin River ValleyElkin Creek Vineyard cultivates classic Italian and
French wine grapes and currently offers eight wines, ranging from crisp whites to deep, complex reds.
Guests can experience wine tastings in a warm and in-viting tasting room, enjoy wine selections as they stroll by a gentle waterfall, or sit in a creek-side swing by the fire pit. Hand-made-to-order pizzas, baked in an au-thentic wood-fire brick oven, are offered every Sunday. Already an exceptional venue to host weddings and special events, new additions to the property include four private cabins with luxury amenities, due to open Summer 2012.
Elkin Creek Vineyard was established in 2001, and the
Winery, Tasting Room and Kitchen opened in 2007.
New owners and caretakers-the Jeroslow and the White
families- found each other through their experience
working for the theatrical sensation Blue Man Group
and discovered Elkin Creek Vineyard when the Whites
married there in 2008. It is a dream come true to care
for and nurture such a magical place.
