Reconciliation & First Communion PreparationTraditionally children celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession) and First Communion in the second grade. For their prepa-ration, children attend Religious Education for two years (1st grade & 2nd grade). The first year is traditionally 1st grade and the second, 2nd grade, is continued preparation for the sacraments and the celebration. Older children who have not celebrated the sacraments and need to prepare participate in the RCIA for Children Program. Register for Religious Education to get your child ready to celebrate the sacraments.
Reconciliación y Preparación de Primera Comunión - los niños celebran tradicionalmente el Sacramento de la Reconciliación (Prim-era Confesión) y la Primera Comunión en el segundo grado. Para su preparación, los niños atienden Educación Religiosa por dos años (1r grado y 2do grado). El primer año es tradicionalmente del 1r grado y el segundo, 2do grado, es preparación continua para los sacramentos y la celebración. Niños mayores de edad que no han celebrado sus sac-ramentos y necesitan prepararse, participan en el programa para niños de RICA. Confirmation - A minimum of two years, traditionally 8th grade and 9th grade, of formal religious education in a parish precedes the Confirmation Preparation Program at Santa Cruz. Students who attend their 8th and 9th grade years will enter into the Confirmation Preparation Program in their 10th grade year. If a student did not attend 8th grade, the DRE / High School RE Coordinator will work with parents to place the child in appropriate classes. These guidelines are in accordance with the Diocese of Austin. Register for Religious Education to get your child ready to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation.

Holy Cross Festival BBQ Plate Fundraiser
On Saturday, July 27th at First State Bank across the street from the church, the Holy Cross Festival committee members will be selling BBQ plates in order to raise monies for the music to be played at the festival. Plates will consist of chicken quarters/sausage rice n beans and the trimmings. Plates can be picked up at 11:00 until they run out. Please come out and support us. ALL or ANY DONATIONS will be appreciated, if anyone cares to make a donation to the MUSIC FUND, please turn them in to Bob Johnson, parish administrator, and let him know it’s for the MUSIC FUND. Cristo es la Palabra hecha carne. Nuestra fe vive esa Palabra. Pablo escribe a los Colosenses, a nombre del cuerpo de Cristo, “Ahora me alegro cuando tengo que
sufrir por ustedes, pues así completo en mi carne lo que falta a los sufrimientos de Cristo para bien de su cuerpo, que es la Iglesia. Quiso darles a conocer la riqueza tan grande que su
plan misterioso reservaba a las naciones paganas.” (Col 1:24-28).Es el apostolado de Pablo que completa para nosotros la Palabra de
Dios - como es la misión de nuestros sacerdotes aquí en Santa Cruz. Como Corresponsables satisfacen nuestras necesidades para que podamos seguir adelante con el mensaje.
Christ is the Word made flesh. Our faith lives that Word. Paul writes to the Colossians, on behalf of Christ’s body, “which is the
church, of which I am a minister in accordance with God’s stewardship given to me to bring to completion for you the word of God, the mystery hidden from ages and from generations past” (COL 1:24-28).
It is Paul’s apostolate to bring to completion for us the Word of God - as it is the mission of our priests here at Santa Cruz. As Stewards, they fill our needs so we can go forth with the message.
News from the Principal’s DeskWe seem to be in the quiet days of summer around the school office right now. The maintenance staff is still busy with the summer cleaning, and we are waiting for our new desks to arrive any day now. I have been spending my time looking at schedules and ordering classroom materials.
The last week in July I will be traveling to Ann Arbor, Michi-gan to witness Sr. Mary Regina Whitney’s final vows along with seven other sisters. The celebration will begin with Holy Mass at Christ the King Church and conclude with a lunch reception at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Mary of the Eucharist. I am very honored to have been invited, and this year, our Catholic Schools Superintendent, Dr. Ned Vanders, will joining me on this special trip.
We are still encouraging anyone who may want to help our parish school by becoming a Tuition Angel to do so. We need donations to help with the cost of tuition for some of our students. A Tuition Angel can help by covering all or part of a full year’s tuition. For a PreK student, it is $4,925 and for a Kindergartener through 8th grader, it is $4,250. If you would like to help, you can drop off your donation to the school office or send it to P.O. Box 160, Buda, TX 78610. No donation is too small! Thank you for your help!

El retiro será este 27 de Julio en el salón parroquial Dean. Las puertas abrirán desde las 7:00am y el retiro tendrá final a las 7:00pm. Este retiro es gratuito, el único requisito es tener ganas de entregarle un día al Señor. Habrá miembros del grupo afuera de la iglesia llenando aplicaciones y contestando pregun-tas, si tu o alguien que conoces está interesado acérquese a uno de ellos.”
