1. Highlight the body line where the tag recess area begins with a

grease pencil.

2. Measure over 5/16 towards the sides of the trunk and mark with

a grease pencil.

3. Apply masking tape to cover the grease pencil marks made in

Step 2.

4. Remove the grease pencil marks made in Step 1.

TOOLS REQUIREDElectric Drill, 1/8 drill bit, rivet gun, automotive grade masking tape, automotive grade sealer/rust preven-

ter.

Rear Tag Surround

5. Make sure that the top of the taped line extends at least 1/16 be

yond the factory chrome moulding.

6. Trim the supplied 3M clear protection tape at the same angle as

the intersection of the factory moulding and the tag recess open-

ing.

7. With the top of the 3M clear protective tape aligned in place, trim

the bottom of the tape at the same angle as the bottom of the

trunk lid. Cut the tape 1/2 past the edge of the trunk lid.

8. Carefully align the 3M clear protective tape against the edge of

the masking tape and smooth it down onto the painted trunk lid.

Once the tape is in place, fold the long edge up underneath the

trunk lid.

9. Align the 22 gage stainless steel filler into place and once it is per-

fectly centered, mark the bottom edges of the filler with a grease

pencil. These marks will assist in the left and right upright align-

ment.

10. Align the left and right uprights into place, flush with the factory

moulding at the top and just covering the grease pencil marks

made at the bottom in the previous step.

11. Use a grease pencil or marker to mark the mounting hole loca-

tions on the uprights, then remove the uprights.


12. Once the uprights have been removed, use a 1/8 drill bit to drill

through the first layer of metal only. IMPORTANT: Do not drill

through the holes in the uprights as the drill bit or chuck will

damage the chrome plated uprights causing rust problems that

E&G will not cover by the warranty.

13. Use a high quality sealer to prevent future rust problems.

14. Using a rivet gun, install the supplied s.s flat washers (early pro-

duction uprights) and 1/8 rivets to secure the uprights to the

trunk lid.

15. Once the uprights are installed, peel off the foam tape applied to

the tag recess from the factory.

16. Align the 22 ga. s.s. filler and mark the opening locations ontothe tag recess using a grease pencil.


17. Using the supplied template, cut out the supplied 4 black pres-sure tape into left and right black out tape sections.

18. Apply them over the grease pencil marks made in the previous

step, making sure you remove any air bubbles trapped under the

tape.

19. Peel off all of the double faced tape backing from the 22 Ga. s.s.

filler.

20. Align the mesh sections and use the .015 x 1 double faced

tape at the tops of the openings the hold the mesh in place dur-

ing the filler alignment.

21. Make sure that the 22 Ga. filler is tight against the factory

chrome mounlding, then rotate the filler down into place and

press firmly enough to set the tape. The bottom of the filler

should be flush or slighly above the lower edge of the trunk lid.

22. Once the filler is attached to the trunk lid, remove the protective

backing from the fille and use a mild solvent and a clean , soft

cloth to remove any glue residue. Follow with glass clean or al-

cohol and a soft clean rag to remove any solvent residue.

23. Finished installation.
