My gifts I continue to discover along my journey; however, passion and continued Love for Christ Church is what I will offer. Garrison, and Ernest C. Richardson, IV Why you are willing to serve and the gifts you will bring to the vestry: I have served on the vestry once before and am now Treasurer to the Vestry. I believe with my past involve-ment with the church as a member, positions held, and occupation that my experience in these positions will enable me to contribute in

a positive way to the administration of the church and its congregation. I have always believed that I have an obliga-tion to give back to my church and community. Work and educational background: Attorney - I re-ceived BS degree in Business Administration in 1969 from University of North Carolina and Law degree in 1972 from University of North Carolina. Length of attendance at Christ Church: Since 1949 Previous ministries: Vestry, Education Committee, Fi-nance Committee, Sunday school Teacher, Chairman of Every Member Canvas. Current ministries: Treasurer and Finance Committee Hobbies/personal interests: Hunting, Fishing, Reading, and Grandchildren

Vestry Nominee Information

Name: Gay Stuart

Married/single: Married Spouse: Bruce Meyers Children: We have a combined family of seven

children, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grand children.

Why you are willing to serve and the gifts you will bring to the vestry: I have taken the journey offered through the Cursillo ministry as well as completing the four year Education for Ministry (EfM) course. These ministries are both designed to teach students to be leaders.

Because of what I learned in them, I believe it is time for me to step up and to give back to those who have been serving me. As I see my gifts, I am dedicated to the task, have good organizational skills and am a detail person. I also feel I have good listening and discernment capabili-ties. Work and educational background: As I started my family very early, I completed only two years of college. My work experience ran the gamut from junior typist to administrative department head for the County of San Diego. I worked with Social Services, Tax Collector and the Planning Departments, before ending my 32 year ca-reer in the SD County Sheriff’s Department. Length of attendance at Christ Church: I have attended Christ Church since moving here in 2006, more than 8 years.

Previous ministries: I spent several years of volunteer time with Habitat for Humanity, both in Florida and New Bern. I also volunteered time with RCS, was a coordinator of Stepping Out Singles and United Thank Offering (UTO), worked on Cookie Walk and have organized sev-eral fund raisers for St. Elizabeth’s Chapter of ECW. I also assisted with the altar flower ministry of the church. Current ministries: I am currently secretary for Christ Church ECW Board and also secretary for the Secretariat Board for the East Carolina Diocese of Cursillo. I serve as a Eucharist Visitor for our church family and am also on a funeral reception team. I have just joined the Newcomer’s ministry here. Hobbies/personal interests: Most of my personal inter-ests involve people. I enjoy entertaining and helping oth-ers. I relax by gardening and reading. I also have a great interest in decorating and interior design.

Why you are willing to serve and the gifts you will bring to the vestry: I am wiling to serve on the vestry because I love Christ Church and care about the people who wor-ship here. The next few years promise to be pivotal for the future of our church and I be-lieve my experience and talents would be beneficial to shaping that future. Some gifts I

would bring to the vestry are a calm demeanor and ability to listen to all sides of an issue, willingness to work hard and previous vestry and Jr. Warden experience. Work and educational background: BSBA—East Caroli-na University 2001; Currently small business owner in New Bern Length of attendance at Christ Church: 9 years Previous ministries: Vestry 2010-2012, Jr. Warden 2012 Current ministries: Christ Episcopal Trust—Secretary 2011 to present, EYC Leader 2010 to present, Rector Search Committee member Hobbies/personal interests: Boating, Fishing, Hunting, Golf, Travel

As there were no nominations from the floor on October 26th, a plurality will determine which four persons from the these five can-didates for vestry will be elected on Sunday, November 16th. Voting will take place after the Peace during each Sunday liturgy. The Business Meeting will occur in the Nave of the Church at 10:00 am.

Operation Christmas Child Goal: 300 boxes — Deadline extended!

Over 200 boxes Operation Christmas Child have been filled but our hope is to reach 300. Boxes are in the reception area. There is a sign up sheet for boxes that are taken and we have extended the deadline to Nov. 8, 2014. All boxes returned by the 8th will be blessed by our new Bishop on Sun-day Nov. 9, 2014. Instructions for the project are contained in each box. Also it is suggested that the packaging be removed from bulky items purchased so that they fit better within the box. If you do not want to fill a box, donations are being accepted for shipping costs. Just make the check out to Christ Church and put Operation Christmas Child in the memo. This is a division of Samaritans Purse Inter-national Relief. It delivers shoe-boxes of gifts to children in dire and desperate situations around the world. Farm Worker Fall Project Migrant farmworkers will need clothing (Waist siz-es 30,32,33,34) jackets, hats, shoes and bedding for the winter season ahead. There is a collection box in the reception area for these items. If you are changing over your wardrobe, please think of the farmworkers needs. Questions? Compassionate Listening Ministry at RCS

A meeting for all volunteers and anyone interested in learning more about this ministry will be No-vember 6th at 12:30 pm in the library at Christ Church. Please plan to attend. Contact Linda Mur-dock e to volunteer at [email protected] or 252-635-4921.

Crafters Wanted Crafters, knitters and those who crochet are en-couraged to bring your items to the Craft Table at the Cookie Walk. If you need to get rid of good Christmas ornaments and decorations, especially decorated artificial wreaths, call Connie Whitney at 252-633-1931 to add your items to the list. All proceeds from the craft table go to outreach. Cookie Walk is Saturday Dec. 13, 2014.

Just a reminder that we are coming to the end of our annual stewardship campaign. If you would like to present your pledge card at the altar, there will be an opportunity to do this at each service on Sun-day Nov. 16, 2014. Even if you are not pledging this year, we would appreciate your returning a card to indicate your intentions.

Pumpkin Patch 2014 I want to thank all the volunteers that helped make the 2014 Pumpkin Patch such a wonderful success. From the people that worked at the sales table, baked goods contributors, story time helpers and people that purchased items from the Patch a big hug for making 2014 the most successful Patch to date. Over $6,500 was earned for local outreach. Thanks again to everyone for the help and support that I have received as chairman for the last 6 years. I’m sure that the same enthusiasm and support will be offered to the new chair for 2015.
