  • Master Schedule

    The times and teachers for classes next

    year have not been decided so no one

    can tell you what classes might cause a

    scheduling conflict for you.

    Select your classes based only on your

    graduation requirements, interests, and

    personal preferences.

    Students only earn credit for a class one

    time (except PE)

  • English

    You will take a full year of English

    Your choices are CP English 2 and CP

    English 2 Honors

    You will also be required to take

    Communicating in the speech

    department to graduate.

  • Math

    You must pass Algebra 1 and Geometry; and have 3 credits of math to graduate.

    Algebraic Concepts 1 and 2 count as Algebra 1 credit and grants 2 credits of math toward graduation.

    Geometry and Geometry Honors are1 credit of math.

    You must pass your current math class with a C or higher to go on to next class.

    You may only get math credit one time. If repeating a math class, you may get elective credit.

    Your math class for next year is decided by your current math teacher.

  • Social Studies

    Social Studies electives include World Civilizations,

    Modern World History, and Geography A & B. You

    may take them in any order. Review the Red Book (on

    line) for descriptions of each.

    Many colleges require 3 credits of high school social

    studies (6 semester classes) for admission.

    Modern European History MAY be provided as an

    early bird class for sophomores next year for one

    semester. There will be no parking or transportation

    provided. Attendance is mandatory. Be sure you can

    arrive by 7:35.

  • Science

    You must pass both semesters of

    biology to graduate.

    If you passed biology, register for IPS

    (Intro to Physical Science) or Chemistry.

    Remember: You must have a C or

    better in Algebra 1 or an A in

    Algebraic Concepts 1 to enroll in

    Chemistry.

  • Auto Safety/ Keyboarding

    If you have 5 credits from the previous

    year (freshman year), you can sign up to

    take auto-safety.

    This is a quarter class, so add

    keyboarding with auto-safety.

    The quarter you take auto-safety is

    determined by your birthday.

  • PE

    You must pass 3 semester credits of PE.

    Only 4 classes can be counted toward the 22

    needed for graduation.

    You must remove all piercings at the discretion

    of the teacher for safety reasons.

    You must purchase a PE uniform and dress

    out every single day.

    Exceptions are made for ROTC and Marching

    100.

  • Health

    Health is a graduation requirement.

    You must pass health, even if you

    passed it in middle school.

  • Consumer Education

    Consumer education is a graduation

    requirement, typically taken in junior

    year.

    Economics Honors counts for consumer

    education credit.

    Business & Technical Concepts A and B

    will waive the consumer ed. requirement

  • Honors Recommendation Form

    A signature is required by student,

    parent and recommending teacher.

    Students will not be able to drop an

    honors class after the first 10 class

    meetings of the semester.

    A student may not be able to drop at

    semester without a meeting between

    teacher and parent.

  • Electives

    AHS has several elective programs.

    If you intend on taking a 2 hour

    vocational class in your junior or senior

    year, please look in the Course

    Description Guide/Red Book to review

    the pre-requisites and register for them

    now.

  • Intro to Engineering Design

    Using state of the art 3-

    D computer modeling

    software and a 3-D rapid

    prototype machine,

    students learn the

    design process, and

    they solve design

    problems as they

    develop, analyze, and

    create product models.

  • Principles of Engineering

    This is exploring various

    technology systems and

    manufacturing

    processes.

    The course also

    includes concerns about

    social and political

    consequences of

    technological change. Marble Maze Designed and built by the students

  • Digital Electronics

    This course is applied

    logic that encompasses

    the application of

    electronic circuits,

    breadboards,

    oscilloscopes and

    capacitor devices.

    Using computer

    simulation students

    design digital circuitry.

    •Students spend time working on traditional drafting as well as computer aided drafting projects. For their final project in CAD Technology, students create a scale model. When they leave here, they are ready to enter a college or technical school and work toward a career in drafting.

    Business majors are required to take at least one, usually two, college accounting courses.

    Studies show that students who take high school accounting are more successful in college accounting.

  • Things to Remember

    You must have 22 credits to graduate.

    Only junior/senior students may be

    student assistants.

    You may only have 1 study hall per

    semester.

    If you only take 5 classes, you will not

    have enough credits to graduate with

    your class.

  • PSAE/ACT and other opportunities

    ACT is required for graduation. Juniors must take this in April at AHS.

    You may take the ACT at anytime it is offered on Saturdays at AHS. You can determine the dates and register on-line at ACT.org.

    Take the PLAN test very seriously to determine how well you will do with current skills on the ACT.

    There are other testing opportunities at AHS for advanced college placement and scholarship opportunities in the remaining 3 years of high school. Please watch the guidance website, listen for announcements, and consult with your guidance counselor for further information.

  • Summer School

    No one knows what classes are going to

    be offered in summer school at this time.

    Put required classes on your schedule

    with an alternate. After you have paid

    your money, the class will be substituted

    with the alternate.

    The registration forms will be available in

    early May.

  • NCAA

    High school students who wish to be

    considered for NCAA (National

    Collegiate Athletic Association) full or

    partial scholarships must meet very

    specific courses, GPA, and ACT test

    score.

    Do not wait…Let your counselor know

    now if you are interested.

  • Community Service

    Students may perform community service for credit.

    This must be completed in an agency that performs a service to the community.

    The agency must be pre-approved by a counselor.

    Credit: 40 hours= .25 credit

    80 hours= .50 credit

    120 hours=.75 credit

    160 hours= 1 credit

  • Registration Procedure

    After today’s presentation, take materials to a

    trusted adult to plan for your classes.

    A parent or guardian must sign your

    registration worksheet.

    Return this worksheet to your English teacher.

    Register with your counselor on your

    scheduled day in your English class.
