THIS IS ODDLY LIKE FRESHMAN COMP:

Write an annual letter from the President for the Annual Report.

Ah, you say, this is a chance to be inspiring and eloquent. How about

brief? I think that’s the best approach.

2015, the year on which this report focuses, was another successful

one for Bryn Mawr Film Institute, made better by higher-than-ever

attendance, a huge program of screenings, courses, and special events,

and a still-growing membership. Sounds like what I said last year? In

broad outline, that is true. But the way we look at it, 2015 was a year of

stability following our expansion. During the year we further proved that

our plan to enlarge to four auditoriums could generate more revenue

than expenses, more movies, more patrons, and more fun for all.

We completed a new Strategic Plan for the next 3 to 5 years and it

contains initiatives on all fronts: Institutional and Community Leadership,

Infrastructure, Audience Development, Education, Funding, and Board

and Volunteer involvement. It’s posted on the SUPPORT page of our

website with the DONOR INFORMATION, and we invite your comments.

In the planning process we affirmed our mission, and that affirmation

renews every day as patrons walk through the arcade and we chat

about the film they are about to experience. It’s hard to imagine what

this region would be like if BMFI didn’t exist. And our Strategic Plan,

combined with our highly productive team, will ensure that BMFI remains

vibrant for years to come.
