    Commissioningand Testing

A practical two-day course covering the complete process

of commissioning and testing new protection systems

prior to initial switch-on and the testing of existing asset

protection to prove its continuing integrity.

    What is the course about?

Since many of the engineers and technicians who initially installed and

commissioned much of the existing network plant have now left the industry, thereis a knowledge gap regarding the integrity of these systems and how they werecommissioned. This course will give you the skills and knowledge to fill that gap, inboth testing existing protection systems and commissioning new ones.

The course will share best practice from across the industry by taking you throughthe end-to-end process of commissioning and testing using a series of practicalworked examples, from planning, design and procurement through to energisingplant, loading and sign-off.

You will benefit from presentations including safety, voltage testing, protection

testing, switch on, handover, records of test results and future maintenance. Thisapproach will also provide you with a fault-finding methodology that is relevant toboth new and existing installations.

Why should you attend this course?

Understand the need for a robust commissioning and testing programme

Ensure the reliable start up of power distribution equipment

    Maximisesafety Minimise premature equipment failure

Develop a methodologyfor fault finding in new and existing systems

Improve your knowledgeof commissioning and testing protection systems

Gain expertisein end-to-end protection system design and implementation

    Who should attend?

You should attend this course if you are an engineering professional or technicianworking for a network owner/operator, particularly if you have responsibility for thetesting and commissioning of plant and equipment.

The course will also benefit engineers and technicians from the industry sector whotest and commission plant and equipment, or who employ contractors and wish tobe able to understand and audit their work.

The course will also be of interest to graduate engineers, although to fullyappreciate the programme you will need to have some prior protection experienceor have attended a previous EA Technology protection course.
