Commitment Sunday

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Cor 9:6-7

You know, money is not everything. It is not everything because it is NEVER an end in itself. Money is only a means to an end. But what end? Well, the answer to that question is different for each of us depending on the philosophical and/or theological views that guide our lives. And our answers, regardless of what they are, will fundamentally affect the quality of our lives, relationships and spirituality. Our answers or definitions of an end ultimately determine our happiness here and hereafter. Be that as it may, for us Christians, there is only one end – the Kingdom of God. Our Lord categorically enjoins us to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Mt 6:33). In other words, there is no other end greater than God himself and his Kingdom. He is the ultimate end to which our lives tend. We have received ALL we have from God (1 Cor 4:7), and must use ALL our gifts to serve him. Each of you, says St. Peter, should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms (1 Peter 4:10). Today is the Called to Renew Commitment Sunday. Today is yet another opportunity to put our love for God into practice. Today, we are called to join hands to ‘build for the Lord.’ Throughout this campaign, we are called to think of what this parish means for us. We are called to help renew our community. And many of our fellow parishioners have already said “yes” to Called to Renew. Their generous and sacrificial donations have helped us close in on our goal. But, as brothers and sisters, we are equally yoked. God’s blessings from Sacred Heart Church flow to us all. So I invite you to use this opportunity to participate in reciprocation to God. Be generous! Give God a chance to bless you even more. I leave you with these powerful words from our Lord Jesus Christ:

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you (Lk 6:38)

For you all, I pray:

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Amen! (Num 6:24-26)

Domingo del compromise

Recuerda esto: El que siembra con escasas fuerzas, también cosechará con escasas fuerzas, y el que siembra con generosidad, también cosechará con generosidad. 7 Cada uno de vosotros debe dar lo que ha decidido en su corazón dar, no a regañadientes ni bajo coacción, porque Dios ama al dador alegre. 2 Corintios 9:6-7

Sabes, el dinero no lo es todo. No lo es todo porque NUNCA es un fin en sí mismo. El dinero es sólo un medio para alcanzar un fin. Pero, ¿con qué fin? Bueno, la respuesta a esa pregunta es diferente para cada uno de nosotros dependiendo de los puntos de vista filosóficos y/o teológicos que guían nuestras vidas. Y nuestras respuestas, independientemente de cuáles sean, afectarán fundamentalmente la calidad de nuestras vidas, relaciones y espiritualidad. Nuestras respuestas o definiciones de un fin determinan en última instancia nuestra felicidad aquí y en el más allá. Sea como fuere, para nosotros, los cristianos, sólo hay un fin: el Reino de Dios. Nuestro Señor nos manda categóricamente a buscar primero su reino y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán dadas también a vosotros (Mt 6, 33). En otras palabras, no hay otro fin más grande que Dios mismo y su Reino. Él es el fin último al que tienden nuestras vidas. Hemos recibido TODO lo que tenemos de Dios (1 Cor 4, 7), y debemos usar TODOS nuestros dones para servirle. Cada uno de vosotros, dice san Pedro, debe usar cualquier don que haya recibido para servir a los demás, como fieles administradores de la gracia de Dios en sus diversas formas (1 Pd 4, 10). Hoy es el Domingo del Compromiso de Renovación. Hoy es otra oportunidad para poner en práctica nuestro amor por Dios. Hoy, estamos llamados a unir nuestras manos para "construir para el Señor". A lo largo de esta campaña, estamos llamados a pensar en lo que esta parroquia significa para nosotros. Estamos llamados a ayudar a renovar nuestra comunidad. Y muchos de nuestros feligreses ya han dicho "sí" al Llamado a la Renovación. Sus generosas y sacrificadas donaciones nos han ayudado a acercarnos a nuestra meta. Pero, como hermanos y hermanas, estamos igualmente unidos. Las bendiciones de Dios de la Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón fluyen hacia todos nosotros. Así que los invito a que aprovechen esta oportunidad para participar en la reciprocidad con Dios. ¡Sé generoso! Dale a Dios la oportunidad de bendecirte aún más. Los dejo con estas poderosas palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo:

Gratitude is a huge part of my life and my ministry. I always make a point to let my leaders know that I am thankful for them and constantly am expressing my gratitude towards them. I love receiving gratitude in my own life as well, though sometimes it seems like it is few and far between. Someone who I know is really awesome at gratitude is my regional Y.M. Coordinator. One gratitude challenge that she gave us this is year is one that I want to share with all of you and encourage you to do so as well and it is called a Gratitude Jar. The concept is very simple, get a jar let say like a mason jar and set it on your desk or somewhere where you are constantly working. Everyday write down 3 things you are thankful for each on a different stripe of paper and place them in the jar. Once the jar is full or when you are having a time when you need some joy in your life go ahead and open up that jar and read those things you are grateful for. I’m not going to lie, I thought the idea was weird at first but I have one on my desk and it has been a nice reminder of the things I have to be grateful for in my life. La gratitud es una gran parte de mi vida y de mi ministerio. Siempre me preocupo por hacer saber a mis líderes que estoy agradecido por ellos y que constantemente estoy expresando mi gratitud hacia ellos. Me encanta recibir gratitud en mi propia vida también, aunque a veces parece que son pocos y están muy lejos. Alguien que sé que es realmente increíble en la gratitud es mi coordinador regional de Y.M. Un desafío de gratitud que ella nos dio este año es uno que quiero compartir con todos ustedes y los animo a que lo hagan también y se llama Tarro de Gratitud. El concepto es muy simple, consiga un frasco, digamos como un frasco de albañil, y póngalo en su escritorio o en algún lugar donde esté trabajando constantemente. Cada día escriba 3 cosas por las que está agradecido en una tira de papel diferente y colóquelas en el frasco. Una vez que el frasco esté lleno o cuando estés pasando por un momento en el que necesites algo de alegría en tu vida, sigue adelante y abre ese frasco y lee las cosas por las que estás agradecido. No voy a mentir, pensé que la idea era rara al principio pero tengo una en mi escritorio y ha sido un buen recordatorio de las cosas por las que tengo que estar agradecido en mi vida. Beginning of Advent, November 30 - December 1, we will follow guidelines of the Roman Missal: After receiving Holy Communion, the recipient walks silently back to the church, where he/she kneels or sits contemplatively in adoration of Jesus. It is the most intimate moment of the Mass – time to speak

heart-to-heart with Jesus. Prayer and personal reflection after receiving the Eucharist brings us closer to God and allows us to be more fully aware of His presence. So, henceforth, we encourage the congregation not to stand after receiving communion.

of 1287 individuals, 502 of these individuals were homeless. Thank you for you continues support. San Vicente de Paúl terminó su año fiscal el 30 de septiembre de 2019. church doors the following Saturday November 30 and Sunday, December 1st . These donations will be distributed to the help the less fortunate of our community during the holidays. Your generosity each month is essential to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry Ministry and recipients of these groceries are extremely blessed to have your support.

Building your active listening skills with the children in your life can help you communicate more effectively with them, and it can also clue you in to any suspicious or potentially dangerous relationships in their lives. Active listening lets the speaker know that you have heard, understood, and valued what he or she said. Often, children don’t feel this way, but with a few

easy tactics, you can change that, building a relationship of trust and respect. As an active listener, be sure to make eye contact while the child is speaking. Ask follow-up questions and check in to make sure you both understand what’s being said. Avoid “yes or no” questions and instead ask open-ended questions that will keep the conversation going. A stroke occurs every 40 seconds and yet up to 80% of strokes can be prevented.

This is why Sacred Heart Church Ventura is hosting Life Line Screening, the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings on December 2nd.

Screenings are fast, painless and affordable. Get checked for blocked arteries, a leading risk factor of stroke, as well as ab-dominal aortic aneurysm, blockages in the arteries of the lower legs (Peripheral Arterial Disease) and atrial fibrillation (Afib). Nearly 800,000 strokes will occur this year, taking a life ap-proximately every four minutes.
