    APPLIQU & EM BROIDERY

    1. Trace all the pieces of thebird and branch motifs onto fusiblewebbing and cut out roughly. Ironthem onto your chosen appliqufabrics and cut out neatly.

    2. Remove the backing paperfrom the motifs and position

    them, glue side down, onto thetop half of the main fabric. Ironinto place. Machine stitch aroundthe motifs using a mediumstitch and contrasting thread toappliqu them to the fabric.

    Ribbon, bead and clip ring

    3. Iron on a lightweight waddingto the back of the main fabric,and fold the main fabric in half with right sides facing. Insert andpin a loop of ribbon between theside seams, facing inwards.

    4. Using a 1cm ( 3 8 in) seamallowance, machine stitch aroundthe sides and bottom edge towithin 3cm (1 1 8 in) of the top edge,to make the case. Repeat for thelining fabric. Turn the case throughto the right side but not the lining.

    5. Insert the case into thelining. Pin and machine stitch thetop edge of the case and liningtogether, right sides facing. Leavea 1.5cm ( 5 8 in) gap above the topof the side seam at either side.Turn lining through to the inside.

    6. Machine stitch a 1.5cm(5 8 in) wide channel across the frontand back of the case and threadribbon through it. Thread on thebead and knot the ribbon ends.Attach a clip to the ribbon loop.

    1. Cut a piece of elastic nylonthread measuring approximately 30cm (12in). For a mediumbracelet thread on 24 8mmbeads (small 22, large 26).

    2. Take the ends of the elasticand tie a knot pulling tight to draw

    each end of the bead string together.Tie two or three more knots, pullingvery tight each time so the knot doesnot unravel (dont worry, the elasticshouldnt snap). Snip the ends of theelastic of neatly next to the knot.

    3. Thread each metal bead ontoa headpin. Using round-nose pliers,twist the top of the wire to form aloop and snip with wire cutters toform a closed circle. Further closeup the loop using pliers if necessary:there should be no gap to ensure thebead does not fall off the jump ring.

    4. Take each one of themetal bead charms and threadcarefully onto a single jump ring.Then thread the jump ring ontothe bead bracelet and close.

    1. Roll out the sage sugarpasteto 3mm ( 1 8 in) thick and cut out roundcircles to ft the cupcake tops.

    2. Coat the tops o thecupcakes with a thin layer o buttercream and place the sagegreen circles in position.

    1. The abric size can beadjusted i you pre er to makea bigger or smaller headscar .Fold over and press a 1.5cm(5 8 in) hem along the top edge o each o the abric triangles.

    2. With right sides acing,pin and stitch together alongthe two sloping sides. Snip o the point, turn the right way outand press along the seams.

    3. Sew the top edges togetherwith blanket stitch using your chosenyarn colour (i its too chunky,separate the yarn into strandsand just use hal the thickness).
