Dearest Brothers and Sisters,

I am so excited for our upcoming Christmas Pageant that our kids have been preparing. I’d like to invite you all to attend, even if you don’t have kids who are performing. I always take something away from each and every pageant that I attend, and somehow it seems as if Christmas isn’t quite complete without having kids remind me of what it is that we celebrate! There is just something special about being reminded in this particular way that does something for my heart – and I want for it to do something for your heart as well! Our Christmas Pageant this year will be this Tuesday at 7:00PM in the church. Hope to see you there!

The very next day after the Christmas Pageant, we will be having St. EAS’ very own “Advent Be Reconciled Day.” Fr. Moises and I will be taking turns in the confessional from 9:15am-6:30pm. Feel free to swing on by to have your sins forgiven!

Finally, our Domestic Abuse Workshop has been rescheduled. The program will meet from 9:30-2:30 on Saturday January 15th. If you are interested in attending, we ask that you RSVP either on the parish website OR by emailing: [email protected] Lunch will be provided on that day.

God Bless you and enjoy REJOICING in the Lord this Gaudete Sunday!

A long-standing Catholic tradition from the Philippines is the

Simbang Gabi. The nine nights of Masses will be celebrated at

different churches in the Fox Valley area.

Everyone is welcome!

Christmas Pageant

celebrate the birth of

our Lord! The

children in our Family

Immersed Religious

Education (F.I.R.E.)

putting on a

Christmas Pageant on Tuesday,

December 14, 2021 @ 7pm in the church.

There will be a reception following the

pageant in Seton Hall.

Monday, December 20th ~ 7:00 pm

Join us as Fr. Romke leads ENCOUNTER, an hour of prayer that begins with guided meditation rooted in scripture and then flows into a time of worship through song all in the presence of our Eucharistic Lord in Adoration.

Fun fact: Despite what our secular and commer-cial culture would suggest, it is not, currently, the Christmas Season. We are currently in the season of Advent. Christmas and the Christmas Season actually begin in the evening of December 24. Christmas then continues through Epiphany and ends with the feast of the Baptism of the Lord (January 9). We Christians need the season of Ad-vent to spiritually prepare for Christmas. Let’s not deny ourselves the graces of Advent.

Adoration Spots Still Available The kickoff of our 24-hour perpetual Adoration Chapel is off to a great start! Having said that we still have lots of spots to fill - especially during nighttime hours. Here is some food for thought: Why should you go to Adoration? What is the purpose when you can pray at home? Praying at home is certainly an excellent thing to do - but let us ask two questions about it… 1) Are you actually praying at home? You certainly can find God anywhere especially if you have a set time and a routine and are able to find silence. For many though, our homes are full of distractions and things to do. We either just don’t get around to a quiet time of prayer or we find we never move into any deep kind of prayer. In analyzing your prayer life, evaluate yourself on what you do on a normal day and ask how much are you actually praying? 2) Is God reaching you in prayer or are you filling all the time with words? Words or set prayers are holy and good and help us to appropriately speak to God. At some point however, God desires to speak with us, and this usually comes with meditation and silence. We pray as a community at Mass each Sunday. We pray at meals and before bed, and when we say the Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet. We pray intercessory prayers for our family and friends, and we ask God to help us and our world, but our souls crave silence! When was the last time you were so peaceful, quiet, and focused in prayer that you felt the powerful presence of God? Here are some reasons to try Adoration: • It gets you out of your house to a set place where there is silence and few distractions.

• Before you is the Blessed Sacrament - the True presence of God for you to gaze upon and adore.

• Setting a time each week to do a Holy Hour will increase your ability to find silence.

• Remember Martha and Mary - Martha was doing wonderful things for Jesus but He said that Mary has chosen the better part - she was at His feet adoring! You will find if you try it, that it is indeed the better part - Jesus is present and He is waiting to talk to you.

• In the silence before the Blessed Sacrament you will find peace and direction for your life; how attractive is that?! The bottom line is that if you try Adoration and stick with it, you will no longer ask “Why should I” but you will find that it is an enormous privilege and exactly what your soul is craving. You might ask, “Why haven’t I come before?” Stop by or call the parish office today to sign up for a spot to grab your silent time with the Lord each week. Marcie Girolamo Director of Evangelization

Call Ahead

Father John was nervous when he cast Jimmy, the middle school class clown, as Joseph in the annual Christmas pageant. His fears were

realized when Jimmy decided to do a little improvisation by pulling out his cell phone in the pageant’s opening scene.

The astonished priest, who was narrating, asked, “What are you doing with your phone?

Jimmy smiled and replied, “This year I’m calling that inn to make a reservation!”

THE WELL THAT NEVER DRIES UP

Depending on how your mood is today, the words of Paul will hit you differently. “Rejoice always,” he tells us. Well, if your football team is poised to win this week-end or next, maybe you’re really feeling this vibe. But if you’ve got a long slog at work ahead of you this week and a to-do list that only seems to grow and never shrink, it may make you grumble. “Rejoice always? Always? When I’m tired? Cranky? When I’m sick of doing and giving? Thanks, Paul. I’ll be sure to scribble that phrase on a Post-It and stick it to my dash-board for when some entitled punk inevi-tably cuts me off on tomorrow’s morning commute.”

When we feel this way, we know it’s time to head back to the well. Think of all the places in Scripture where God compares His love, His mercy, His salvation to water. And not just any water — living water, wa-ter that moves. God’s strength is not a stagnant puddle sure to evaporate and disappear. It’s water you can keep coming back to. It’s water that never dries up.

Which is good news for us, because we never stop failing to do what we should, never stop failing to feel the joy and the compassion and the selflessness we are called to. We need a source of living water if we are going to ‘rejoice always.’ To be everyday stewards, we need a well that never empties.

The fountain of salvation never dries up. There is always more there for us to draw from. It’s a sign of His commitment — so

let us, in turn, be committed to Him.— Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS ©LPi

Fr. Romke will celebrate Mass in Spanish in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, tonight, Dec.12th at 5:00pm. There will be a potluck dinner in Seton Hall following Mass. All are invited to attend.
