Puzzle 21Dollar Dictionary
Set One
In Dollar Land, the Statue Store sells miniaturestatues of U.S. Presidents. Prices are determinedby the value of the letters in each President’s lastname. The values of the letters are shown in thetable.
A statue of President TYLER, for example, sellsfor $80 becauseT (20) + Y (25) + L (12) + E (5) + R (18) = 80
(Note: These puzzles are the most fun to solve if you first tryto guess or estimate the value of each word before doing theactual calculations.)
NOTE: You’ll find three sets of puzzles on U.S. Presidents here. Each one gets more difficult!
A. Find another president whose statue sells for thesame price as TYLER.
B. Find two presidents whose statues sell for $87.
C. Find the most expensive statue.
D. Find the least expensive name.
Rank these sets of names in order from least to most expensive:
E. ___ HAYES___ GARFIELD ___ CARTER ___ PIERCE ___ REAGAN
A $1B $2C $3D $4E $5F $6G $7H $8I $9J $10K $11L $12M $13N $14O $15P $16Q $17R $18S $19T $20U $21V $22W $23X $24Y $25Z $26

Twisted Idiom
Here’s an idiom that’s twisted in more than one way! A second line hasbeen added to the idiom. Then it’s been coiled into a box of letters.
To uncoil the sentence, you’ll need to select the correct beginningletter, then move one space in any direction to another letter untilyou’ve used all the letters in the box exactly once to complete thesentence.
Hint: The second sentence rhymes with the first.
Idiom: You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.
