What is Tea Tree Oil?

Tea tree essential oil is a pale yellow coloured oil extracted from the twigs and leaves of the melaleuca alternifolia tree which is native to Southeast Queensland and the Northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia.

How To Use Tea Tree Oil

Page 2: 100% pure certified organic tea tree oil (melaleuca alternifolia) 12ml

Do not ingest. Dab small amounts directly onto skin for acne. Use 3-4 drops under a steam mask for sinus and a decongestant. No

suitable for vaporisers as it does not really have a strong smell to scent a room. However, it will deodorise the air due to its anti-bacterial qualities.

Add 8 drops to a warm bath with bath salts. The bath salts will help break up the oil.

Add 3-4 drops to our paraben, sulphate and fragrance-free Ultra Hydrating Shampoo for dandruff, dry scalp and head lice.

Add to 5 drops into 500ml of water and use as a body spray for anti-mould/bacterial/fungal purposes. Shake vigorously before use.

It can also be used as a bathroom cleaner. However, the quality of our tea-tree oil is of therapeutic quality and we suggest you use a less costly quality for this.

Beauty Benefits of Tea Tree Oil

Add 3-4 drops into our Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Ultra Hydrating Conditioner for both oily and dry hair. Do not use directly onto scalp.

Add 2 drops into 1 tablespoon of sweet almond oil for dandruff and scalp psoriasis treatment mask.

Add 3 drops to our a dollop of our Aloe Almond Body Butter to build up the skin's immunity to infection. This will prevent pimples, assist in the repair of skin damage like sun burn, cuts and bruises.

Use 3-4 drops in a glass of water with your shaver to prevent razor burn. Spritz onto skin. Use as before and after shave.

The Science Behind Tea Tree’s Efficacy

According to the Australian Tea Tree Industry Association (www.attia.org.au). Many research reports have now demonstrated tea tree oil’s effectiveness as an antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory agent. ATTIA and Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) have worked closely to develop a comprehensive safety dossier for tea tree oil.

100% pure Australian tea tree oil has also recently demonstrated new and exciting potential efficacy in the control of Golden Staph (staphylococcus aureus) for both Methicillin (MRSA) and Vancomycin (VRSA) resistant strains. Further information and details of published research on MRSA control is available on Novasel Australia's website www.novabac.com demonstrating

Page 3: 100% pure certified organic tea tree oil (melaleuca alternifolia) 12ml

that their product is more effective than chlorhexidine and Triclosan in clearing MRSA from superficial skin sites and wounds.

Exciting new research into the anti-cancer activity of tea tree oil which was published in mid-2010 has found that a tea tree oil formulation significantly inhibited the growth of cancerous tumours in mice. According to the report's co-author, Dr Sara Greay from The University of Western Australia, the findings are significant as the tumours being studied were highly aggressive.

Regardless of your age, gender or skin type, tea tree oil is a must have in your daily skin care regimen

What’s special about tea tree oil is that it is toxic to all 3 infection causing organisms - bacteria, fungi and viruses.

Great for acne, cold sores, dandruff & body pimples.

Other oils may appear to be cheaper, but you need to use more of it and they are riddled with chemicals and pesticides. Completely unsafe for topical application. In the natural skin care industry, you really do get what you pay for.

How To Use On Your Face

Acne: Tea tree oil is toxic to acne vulgaris, the bacteria which causes acne. Adding just 1 drop to your oil-free face cream (or the face cream you are already using) will slowly clear your acne without drying your skin.

Toner: Great for acne prone skin, normal or oily skin. Adding 5-6 drops of tea tree to 500ml of water in a spray bottle makes an extremely effective facial toner. Just don’t forget to shake before use.

Spot Treatment: Generally we don’t recommend using any essential oil directly onto skin without diluting it first. But, if you have a cold sore or a stubborn pimple, add some tea tree to a cotton swab and dab on gently. It will kill any bacteria in its way.

How To Use On Your Body

Moisturiser: Adding 2-3 drops to a dollop or two of moisturiser and whisk vigoruously. Rub into your skin. This will not only strengthen you skin against bacteria, but it will also clear any body pimples and calm any razor burns you might have had from shaving.

Body Spray: Add 5-6 drops to 500ml of water in a spray bottle. Shake well before use. This will clear up any body pimples you have, strengthen your skin against infection and give your skin a beautiful scent.

Bug Spray: The same mixture as above also functions as an insect repellent. Looking for an effective insect repellent which doesn’t smell bad? Look no further. Spray your kids with this mixture from top to toe before they leave for school every morning and they will not come home riddled with insect bites again!

How To Use On Hair

Shampoo:

(i) Tea Tree is excellent aginst killing head lice naturally. If hair has an infestation, you can start by washing your hair with 5 drops to 1 dollop of shampoo. This is a very strong dose, so please do this only once. However, we do want to kill the lice. Make sure you scrub the hair throughly and leave on for 5min. Rince and wash again. This time with just 2 drops.

(ii) Add 3 drops to shampoo if you have dandruff. Make sure the scalp has been scrubbed throughly. It will also leave your hair smelling fantastic.

Conditioner:

We don’t recommend using tea tree in conditioner as tea tree generally works on the scalp not the hair itself. Also, don’t use tea tree oil on dry hair.

Other Uses Of Tea Tree Oil

Trush - Use as a doush if you have itch or thrush. It is safe to use in this manner and does not contain any steriods or anti-biotics.
