DESCRIPTION
10 Years of CRY AmericaTRANSCRIPT
It is a special time for us at CRY America. We are 10! This would not have been possible without the on-going
support from each of you. Our work ranges from making public schools function better, helping families maintain
sustainable livelihoods, giving girls equal opportunities, ensuring healthcare becomes a reality, and government
offcials implement programs they are mandated to.
The success of our journey is not attributed to a big event, large donation or an endowment fund. It is thanks
to the support that we get from 17,000 generous donors across 47 states, thousands of hours spent by 2,000
committed volunteers, over 60-70 events a year across 25 cities, work of our full time staff and tireless efforts of
56 supported projects. This powerful collective commitment and action has irreversibly transformed the lives of
411,358 children living across 2,254 rural, tribal and urban communities in India and the USA.
You’ve walked with us every step of the way and we’re happy to share shining examples of the lasting change you
have enabled. We see this in dreams come true, aspirations met and lives of children and communities changed
forever.
As we enter our 10th year, your support will ensure that we continue to function independently, supporting many
more projects. This year we want to impact the lives of additional 100,000 children, taking the total number up to
half a million.
You help us walk the talk and take our journey the extra mile. As you leaf through the pages of thisb ooklet,
you’ll see why our experience over the last nine years makes us believe, that together we can and will realize the
dreams of thousands of children like Shravani.
In faith and goodwill,
Shefali Sunderlal
President, CRY America
Take the story of Shravani, from Mahabubnagar (Andhra
Pradesh), who dropped out of school and was forced to
marry when she was only 7. Her life turned for the better
when she was enrolled in the local school and children’s
group. 15 years old today, Shravani dreams of becoming
an engineer or doctor someday. For us, it’s the radiance of

Walking the right path…with your support
Child Rights and You America Inc. is a 501c3 not-for-
proft organization, working to create lasting change
in the lives of underprivileged children. We began our
journey ten years ago, driven by the desire to right
the many wrongs that underprivileged children are
subjected to. We believed that children should have the
right to live, learn, grow and play to their fullest. And it
is with this frm belief that CRY America exists today.
We partner grassroots NGOs that work with children,
their parents and communities. Over the years we have
witnessed transformational change. When you joined
our movement, you enabled communities to become
aware of their rights, come together and ensure that
they get them.
A just world in which every child regardless of gender,
class, caste, faith, color, race, ethnicity, physical and
mental ability, etc. has an equal opportunity to develop
to her or his full potential. And, in which children have a
voice in matters that affect them.
To enable people to take responsibility for the situation
of the deprived child, especially Indian, and motivate
them to confront the situation through collective action;
thereby giving the child and themselves an opportunity
to realize their full potential.
