Alright so we are all guilty o having a spell or twogo wrong in our day. Tere is nothing worse thanhaving a spell mishap or to have a spell you reallyneed to work ub. I you are sick o not eelingyour magick, not seeing the results, and not beingas successul in spell casting and ritual work as youwould like here are ten things you can do right now

to make your magick better, aster, and stronger!

1) Present tense makes it happen Now.

I there is one thing we have learned romthe new-age movement it is the power o themantra. Mantras are never spoken in a past oruture tense, nor do they include negatives suchas the words not, wont, lack, etc. When you

are casting a spell or perorming a ritual and youneed the energy to maniest be sure to think veryclearly about how you are projecting your magick.o stand in circle and say, I dont want ______to happen, but want ________ instead! is verydierent rom I am ________ . Ideally ourspells and rituals that involve the need or money,love, healing, etc. should be done in the presenttense. For example: I have all the money I need,it ows to me and rom me, through me. or Johnny is cured, his cuts and bruises are healed.

It makes all the dierence in the world toallow our magick to begin the instant we castrather than an easy to orget about slow movingcurrent. Be in the now and your magick will too.

2) Dont Yo-Yo your magick!

One o the biggest mistakes we make aswitches is the yo-yoing o our magick. When wecast a spell or perorm a ritual we must let it do itsob. In some cases spells or rituals will require anextended period o time to cast however once it isdone we must let it do it s job. When we yo-yo ourmagick we are sending it out there and then notletting it go, oten because we are anxious, stressed,worried, etc. By obsessing over it working or not

working you are bringing it right back to you be-

cause it was never a completed thought process andthat means your were not clear in intention or will.It is our job as the witch to not hold onto themagick we create but to treat it as a bird that hasto y. I we cage the magick than we are trap-ping our own will and crossing ourselves. Set itinto motion then reocus on the signs around you,

how the universe is communicating with you, etc.

Oten we are too busy looking or the end result thatwe dont see the process unolding. Chances are,the universe is letting you know what to do next oris sending you a sign that the magick is on its way.3) Connect to something bigger.

Connecting to guides, Gods, angels, allies,and ancestors gives you the ability to tap into aninnite source o power- power that has personal-ity. Te more we work with our allies in a spiritualand shamanic way the better we establish our own

psychic senses and the better we can receive messages,channel power, and make adjustments when needed.

I know you have heard us say this beorebut- you absolutely must honor your allies as you

would honor your physical ones. Tese spirits andarchetypes come with personality and personality

makes them unique. Simply asking or an ally thatyou have never met to aide you in magick wontcut it. Would you give ve dollars to a randomperson on the street? Chances are you will walkright past them! However i your riend asked

you or ve dollars you would almost always helpthem. It is actually kind o rude to ask or a avorthen get upset when the person says no. Get toknow your allies and they will get to know you.

4) Show Respect!

Most witches invoke everything romguardians to primordial Gods into their work andthen cut the devocation corner by reciting a hal-hearted memorized dialogue with no soul. Wehave to stop and think; magick is like sex, build-upis important and oreplay is essential to a healthyexchange o lie-orce, i however we get to the

good stu and then dont stick around to let ourpartner nish- well then you are kind o an ass.

Be respectul and understand the intimacyo the work you are doing, the exchange o powerrom you to your allies and rom your allies to you.Hal-hearted devocations are the equivalent tohanging-up on someone mid-sentence. By spend-ing as much time and energy releasing your allies

as you do invoking them you are allowing a rela-tionship o respect to build and in the long termthat is essential. Tink o it like this- when youare dead and in the ground and someone invokes

your spirit rom beyond the grave, you are going towant to be treated well and with respect, and i notwhat kind o havoc would you reek in their lives?

5) Know the momentum.

When casting spells we should be aware the vessel and momentum we are working with.the spell requires you to spend seven days makinafrmations than spend as much time each dconnecting to the energy. I the momentum o

spell requires a slow-steady crawl like a honey jspell to sweeten someone up, be sure not to orgabout it. I you make wards or your home, car, ofce, be sure to eed them! Oten we create speand invite spirits into our home then let their cadles, bottles, bags, etc. get dusty! In order or yospells to be alive you have to treat them like thare. I your spell is a one-shot spell be sure to paa powerul punch in the beginning then let it gFeeding spells that are not meant or multiple casings will do the exact opposite o what you wathem to do. By this I mean i you cast a spell to grid o a block on your path, dont keep revisitithe spell, be strong and centered in the now antrust in your work, by revisiting it over and ovagain you may just be ound guilty o number tw

Knowing the vessel o your magick is juas important and goes hand and hand with m

mentum. Some spells might use longer burnincandles, require extended periods o time inspecic environment, continual eeding, requibuilding over several days, and some spells mrequire objects being charged in one environmeand then to be moved to another or. Beore yotwitch your nose be sure to outline how, when, how long, etc. Getting the details straight aheo time will help make magickal lie much easi

6) Remnants are still active.

One thing that always gets my goat is whI see someone burn a candle then throw awthe remnants. Te last time I saw someone that it was the let-overs o a money spell thcast and guess what happened? I there is othing hoodoo taught us its that the proper ca

Be sure not to throw the baby out with the bath-water- unless you are sure that IS the point tobegin with. I am reminded o a spell that re-quired me to bury the remnants in a grave-yard,I o course orgot this part and ater the rem-nants sat their or a ew days I nally threw-out the let overs and went about my business.

Within three days everything that I worked sohard or regarding this spell went in the gutter.

Your spell remnants are much more than theskin o the chicken you didnt want to eat or thepeas that got too close to your mashed potatoes,you cant just throw them away like they are theunwanted let-overs rom your mothers dry cook-ing. Tey are still vibrating and resonating withthe pulse o your spell work so take the time toconsider your options. Here is a pointer I learnedrom Dorothy Morrison and M.R. Sellars- I youwant it to come to you, bury the remnants by theront door (yes a ower pot works well too!), iyou want the energy to stick around bury the rem-nants in your backyard, i you want to remove theenergy bury the remnants near running water. Asalways be respectul o mother earth and dont gousing the river as a spiritual dumping ground. Be

sure to know where you buried them and makesure no-one else will have the ability to nd them!

7) Fare-weather witches make are-weather magick.

When we do magick only when it is conve-nient or only go to ritual when it is convenient weare only being witches when it is convenient. Tispractice produces quite the issue in the long-run

as it encourages the growth o blocks that keepyou rom being an eective spell caster. We shouldbe plugged in as much as possible and whenev-er possible. Spell casting is the easy part, beingable to cast a spell in an instant is the hard part.Te less time we spend within the presence othe magickal current o energy the harder it is togrow as a witch. Tis is why many witches eel likethey cant move beyond a specic skill set or that

they are spiritually stuck. Sit your altar, check

your connectedness and i you eel like you areslacking o, chances are you are right my riend.

8) CLEAN YOUR OOLS!

Running a spiritual supply store has taughtme a thing or two. I see people come in everyday

who are looking or pieces or the spell they wantto cast, pick up a red candle and say Yeah thisis what I need or that money spell then realizethe spell actually needed a green candle instead.

Tey then pick up 5 dierent green candles be-ore they make their nal choice and go with thepillar candle. Someone else then comes in andpicks up that same red candle person A had intheir hands convinced they were going to use it,and person B decides they want to purchase itor their love spell. Tis goes on and on, essen-tially beore you actually light the candle you aregoing to use at least ve to ten other olks havetouched it and put their own intention onto it.

So oten we orget to prepare ourselvesand our tools/ingredients to get them ripe or themagick we want to create. We see a candle, buyit, spend an hour guring out the rest o how it

is all going to work and then just sit down anddo the spell. We should have all that gured outbeore hand and then every step o that spellshould be prepared as i each step were a spello its own. All your ingredients are like the in-gredients in a recipe, i you dont clean the spin-ach your salad will have sand in it, not to men-tion the recent outbreaks o e-coli. Tats thething, others peoples energy can quickly become

the germs and bacteria that causes your magickto get sick, not work properly, or not work at all.

Salt, Salt, Salt. Mixing salt in water then using thewater to cleanse your tools normally does the trickas salt is known or its ability to disperse ethericpatterns. Here is a tip: purchase a plastic storagecontainer or something similar, every time you goto the grocery store buy a container o salt, table

Purchase a smallpiece o citrine and place it in the container as well.Tis container o salt and citrine is the equiva-lent o a magickal bathtub or your tools and sup-plies. When you get your magickal items placethem in the container over night beore usingthem. Te citrine is a sel-cleansing stone and will

aide in the cleansing o your tools and supplies.

9) Be an engineer.

Engineer, pioneer, same dierence whenit comes to your relationship with your magick.Dont be araid to color outside the lines rom timeto time and experiment with the tools at your dis-posal. We reerence ways other people have done

their magick or we cast spells that have been testedand approved like those ound in books or on-linebut most witches dont create their own spell work.Reading and pouring yoursel into a book can onlytake you so ar and at some point you have to putthe book down and pick up your wand! At anylevel o knowledge there is opportunity to take ahands-on approach to creating your own uniquemagick. Let others inspire you but dont give upyour own brand o witchcrat! Become an engineerto the magick, create it, change it, move it, and letyour higher sel guide you through the process.

10) Daily practice is irreplaceable.

One o the biggest lessons I have learnedis the importance o creating a daily practice. Tismeans that everyday I align mysel, ground, cen-ter, and do cleansing work. Here is the thing; we

are people who work in the energy eld, whetheryou are an actively witchn it up or are out aboutin the world you just cant turn o your magick.Everyday we are surrounded by other people withlord knows what type o issues, hopes o theirown, maybe even magick o their own and allthat rubs o on you. Beore we know it we aresurrounded by etheric clutter, our sense o placein the universe is o balance, and then we go to

bed just to get up and collect more junk the next

day. So many o our problems energetically comerom simply not being as energetically cleanedand aligned as we could be. Yes, do a cleansingon yoursel everyday- Im not implying that youhave poor hygiene just that i you take a showerdaily you should cleanse your energy body dailyas well. Te less astral stu sticking to you the

better and your magick most certainly can tell!
