WOOLWORTHS CRICKET BLAST DAY
What an amazing day Years 3 to 6 had on Friday. Greg from Woolworths
Cricket Blast came to the school to run our gala day. The decision was
made in the morning to have the day at the school instead of Dickinson
Oval due to the weather not being reliable. All students had a blast and
everyone had a smile on their faces. After three rounds of games, five of
the ACT Meteors and their coaches arrived at the school. The students
went up to the hall and asked some excellent questions for the girls to
answer. Congratulations to all students for their enthusiasm on the day and
a big thanks to Ms Daly for coordinating the day.
SCHOOL VISITORS
Yesterday a group of adults from the community group U3A (led by
Jillian Taylor our ex Assistant Principal) visited the Year 3/4L classroom to
learn about the Dhurga language that was included in their book ‘Our
Balindjang Home’. It was great having the students share their experiences
of producing the book and spreading their knowledge beyond the
classroom.
STAFFING NEWS
Mrs Loughran will be on Long Service Leave from Thursday until the end of
the term. Mr McLean will be teaching Year 3/4L during this time.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Arriving at school and class on time:
• ensures that students don’t miss out on the important learning activities
scheduled early in the day when the students are most alert
• helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
• gives students time to greet and connect with their friends before class
and therefore, reduces the opportunity for classroom disruption.
Lateness is recorded as partial absence and must be explained by parents
or carers in the same way as other forms of absence.
REGIONAL ATHLETICS
Good luck to Bella I, Seanna M, Claire, Elly W, Ziggy and Samuel G who
are participating in the Regional Athletics Carnival to be held in Canberra
on Friday. We look forward to hearing how you all go in your events.
Brendan Constable - Principal
Last Friday morning, all students engaged in the
focus lesson around expected behaviours when
attending excursions. This will remain our priority for
the next week. This is in readiness for our Stage 3
excursion to Canberra and Year 6 excursion to The
Crossing early next term.
